...freezing drizzle and icy roads possible tonight into early
monday morning...

patchy freezing drizzle is expected to develop early this evening
across north-central and far northeast wisconsin, and then become
more widespread and expand south and east during the night.
temperatures will remain cold enough for the precipitation to fall
as freezing drizzle north and west of the fox valley. slightly
warmer air across the fox valley will result in a mix of drizzle
and freezing drizzle in east-central wisconsin. the greatest
risk of freezing drizzle in east-central wisconsin will be at
locations west of interstate 41.

the drizzle or freezing drizzle is then expected to gradually
transition to snow late tonight into monday morning. the
precipitation may also be in the form of rain monday morning
across the lower fox valley east to manitowoc.

the freezing drizzle is expected to remain fairly light. however,
it only takes a light glaze to cause untreated surfaces to become
very slippery.

if freezing drizzle develops tonight into monday morning, remember
to slow down and use caution while traveling. be sure to allow
extra time for the monday morning commute and stay tuned to the
latest weather forecasts.

...areas of freezing drizzle into this evening...

drizzle and patchy freezing drizzle is occurring over portions of
western and central upper michigan this afternoon. as
temperatures continue to fall, some light accumulations of ice are
possible on untreated surfaces this evening. freezing drizzle is
expected to gradually transition to snow overnight and monday from
northwest to southeast. see the latest winter weather message for
more details.

motorists should use caution when traveling this evening. allow
for extra time to reach your destination and drive at appropriate
speeds for conditions. ice on roads can be difficult to spot so
leave extra spacing between yourself and other vehicles.

...icy roads possible late tonight and monday morning across
schoolcraft and luce counties...

low level moisture in the form of drizzle will linger behind a
departing cold front beginning this afternoon. temperatures will
begin to drop after this front moves through, dropping below
freezing soon after sunset. any drizzle that falls will have an
opportunity to freeze to road surfaces, creating as much as a
glaze of ice on roadways, elevated surfaces such as bridges, and
sidewalks. as temperatures continue to drop and deeper moisture
filters in across the region in the late monday morning hours,
freezing drizzle will transition to snow.

motorists should use caution when traveling this evening and
tomorrow morning. allow for extra time to reach your intended
destination and drive at appropriate speeds for the conditions.
icy spots on roadways can be difficult to spot so leave extra
spacing between yourself and any other vehicles.

...icy roads possible this afternoon and tonight mainly across
western and central upper michigan...

shallow moisture along and behind a cold front approaching the
upper peninsula from the west will move into the west parts of
upper michigan later this morning, and central parts of upper
michigan this afternoon and evening. precipitation looks to start
off as drizzle, but as temperatures fall into the 20s behind the
front, precipitation will switch over to a wintry mix of snow and
freezing drizzle. untreated surfaces may become icy, especially
bridges and overpasses. if more freezing drizzle materialized than
snow, a glaze of ice will be possible on roadways, sidewalks, and
elevated surfaces. late tonight into early monday morning, colder
air and deeper moisture arrives and will allow any lingering
freezing drizzle to switch over to snow.

motorists should use caution when traveling this afternoon through
tonight, and allow for extra time to reach your intended
destination. while precipitation will remain light today, icy
spots on roadways can be difficult to spot, travel at speeds
appropriate for conditions and leave extra spacing between
vehicles.
