.synopsis... 

low pressure of 29.7 inches will continue eastward tonight over
the middle section of lake michigan, supporting westerly to
southwesterly wind over the southern half of the lake and
northeast winds over the northern half of the lake. as this low
exits eastward over the state of michigan, northeasterly winds
will intensify and surge down the lake from north to south as 
cold air advection increases.  about a 2 to 5 hour window is 
expected for gale force gusts to 35 knots this morning into the
afternoon. hence a gale warning has been posted for the lake 
michigan open waters from late tonight through thursday. the winds
will gradually diminish thursday night and friday.

more northwesterly winds will take hold on friday leading to some
lake effect shower activity over the eastern half of the lake.
some low level instability will be present supporting some
waterspout threat with this lake effect shower activity,
especially over the southern end of the lake.

.synopsis...a 29.8 inch low pressure over south-central wisconsin
will track east to northern lower michigan this morning. the low 
will reach southern quebec this evening while a 30.3 inch high 
pressure over northern manitoba extends a 30.1 inch ridge south 
into the northern plains. this high will extend this ridge 
southeast toward the upper great lakes for friday and saturday. 
the high pressure will then build to 30.4 inches as it settles 
across northern ontario for sunday into tuesday.
