waves are provided as a range of significant wave heights...which
is the average height of the highest 1/3 of the waves...along
with the average height of the highest 10 percent of the waves
which will occasionally be encountered.

.synopsis...a large area of high pressure of 30.4 inches centered
over eastern new england will slide off the coast tonight. a
trough of low pressure averaging 29.5 inches over hudson bay and
western ontario will slide east tonight with a trailing frontal
boundary stretching south through the northern plains. another
low pressure averaging 29.5 inches is expected to develop late
tonight into early saturday along the front...over lake superior.
this low will then lift to the northeast across quebec saturday
afternoon and evening while dragging the cold front across the
lake. another low averaging 29.6 inches will form along the
frontal trough over lake michigan on saturday night and move into
the eastern lakes on sunday. meanwhile...high pressure of 30.2
inches will spread across the central plains and western great
lakes region sunday and then the ohio valley on monday. the high
will slowly spread eastward through mid week.
