precipitation.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

do not drive cars into flooded areas. remember, it only takes two 
feet of water to float most automobiles, including sport utility 
vehicles. turn around, don't drown!

* at  9:10 am friday the flow was 35110 cfs.
* flood stage is 30000 cfs.
* minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* forecast...the river flow will continue nearly into early sunday
  and then drop below flood stage late sunday.

  the wolf river near shiocton.
* at  7:30 am friday the stage was 10.7 feet and slowly rising. 
* flood stage is 12.0 feet. 
* forecast...the river is expected to rise near flood stage sunday 
  morning.
* at 12.0 feet...flooding is confined to lowland and agricultural 
  land.  the entire boat landing in shiocton is under several feet of
  floodwaters.  water is surrounding lowland areas around homes on 
  mill street and island street .

the flood warning continues for
  the wisconsin river at portage.
* at  1:45 pm friday the stage was 17.4 feet.
* flood stage is 17.0 feet.
* minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* forecast...the river will continue rising to near 18.1 feet by 
  tomorrow evening. the river will fall below flood stage tuesday 
  early afternoon.
* impact...at 18.2 feet...floodwaters surround some seasonal homes 
  along old river road in the blackhawk park area. numerous roads in 
  the blackhawk park area are affected by floodwaters. old river road
  is flooded and closed. west lane road in the long lake area is 
  closed with about 4 feet of water over it in places. this level is 
  about a 20 percent chance flood meaning that there is a 20 percent 
  chance in any given year of the river reaching this level.

  chippewa river at durand affecting buffalo and pepin counties 

.overview...a water is running off from a combination melting snow and rains that fell last monday. this combination is producing rising water levels on the chippewa river in western wisconsin. 
the national weather service will continue to monitor this event and issue followup statements as conditions or forecasts change. 

precautionary/preparedness actions...

do not drive cars through flooded areas.  turn around...don't drown. 

stay tuned to noaa weather radio or your local radio or tv station 
for the latest information concerning this flood event.

* the flood warning continues for the chippewa river at durand.
* until late sunday night.
* at 8:45 am thursday the stage was 12.6 feet.
* flood stage is 13.0 feet.
* minor flooding is forecast.
* forecast...rise above flood stage by this evening and continue to 
  rise to near 13.8 feet by friday evening. then the river will fall 
  below flood stage sunday.
* impact...at 13.0 feet...the basements of businesses along the river 
  begin to flood.
* impact...at 12.5 feet...river street in downtown durand begins to 
  flood.
