...the flood advisory is cancelled for the following river in
southwest lower michigan...
muskegon river near croton affecting newaygo county
.the current weather is dominated by high pressure. dry conditions
will stick around through at least early thursday. moisture will
begin to stream in by thursday afternoon and friday with
precipitation amounts generally around a half inch or less. the
extended outlook supports wet weather for the first part of next week
along with much cooler than normal temperatures. the following
forecast is based on observed and forecast 24 hour precipitation.
precautionary/preparedness actions...
safety message...caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.
a flood advisory means minor flooding is possible and rivers are
forecast to exceed bankfull. if you are in the advisory area remain
alert to possible flooding... or the possibility of the advisory
being upgraded to a warning. report observed flooding to local

* forecast...the river will continue to fall.
* impact...at 8.0 feet...river is bankfull. river begins to exceed
its banks and minor flooding begins in low lying areas along the
river.

...the national weather service in marquette is continuing the flood
advisory for the sturgeon river near chassell in houghton county...
.cooler temperatures on tuesday combined with lowering upstream flow
should allow the sturgeon river near chassell to crest tonight and
then fall to below bankful stage on thursday morning. moderate
precipitation in the form of rain changing to snow thursday
afternoon through friday will affect the area and may allow river
levels to rise back to bankful this weekend.

safety message...residents along these rivers should remain alert and
exercise caution when walking near riverbanks. reports indicate that
snow banks have prevented water from flowing onto roads that are
typically affected at these river levels. remain cautious of these
banks breaking and allowing water to flow onto roadways.

road...rajala road...and aho road.
