From Boston area, take I90W (Massachusetts Turnpike) to Exit 4 to I91N towards Northampton/Vermont. Follow I91N for 3.3 miles, take exit 17A/ route 141. Take a left on Northampton St/State route 202, follow 1.6 miles to the Mt. Tom Access Road on the left. The road is marked with a large "MT. TOM" sign up high on the embankment. Follow the road up and around until you cross an overpass to I91. The gated access road is on your right. Follow the access road for about 0.5 mile to the trail running up the old ski hill. (4x4 required!). The Umass wind turbine tower is at the very end of the trail at the top of the mountain (elevation 1140 ft) past the FAA tower on the right.
