the national weather service in greenville-spartanburg has issued a
* flash flood warning for...
central greenville county in upstate south carolina...
* until 1230 pm edt
* at 927 am edt...national weather service doppler radar indicated
slow moving thunderstorms with very heavy rainfall across the
warned area. over 3 inches of rain has fallen within the last 2
hours across areas south of downtown greenville and west side of
mauldin. additional heavy rain of 1 to 2 inches will continue
within the next hour.
* runoff from this excessive rainfall will cause flash flooding to
occur. some locations that will experience flooding include...
downtown greenville...cherrydale point...donaldson center...five
forks...fountain inn...haywood mall...i-85 at augusta rd...i-85 at
i-185...i-85 at pelham road...mauldin...shops at greenridge and
precautionary/preparedness actions...
excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams...urban areas...highways...streets and underpasses
as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. the water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
