* flood stage is 100.0 feet.
* minor flooding is forecast.
* forecast...the river will rise above flood stage early this morning
  and continue to rise to 100.2. the river will 
  fall below flood stage early tomorrow afternoon. 
  
* at 100.5 feet...several yards and docks in low lying areas around 
  lake wateree begin to flood.
* at 100.4 feet...the water begins to overflow one or more marinas 
  along the northwest shores. the piers on the wildlife road bridge 
  over singleton creek become submerged.

* the river fell below flood stage this afternoon and is forecast to 
continue to fall over the next few days.
* at 30.0 feet...the higher bank begins to flood. large areas of 
  farmland and river bottomland near cheraw will be flooded. portions
  of riverside park become flooded.
* at 20.0 feet...river bottomland downstream from cheraw will begin to
  flood.

  congaree river at columbia affecting lexington and richland 
  counties

.recent rainfall across the upstate and midlands continues to produce 
high flows along the congaree river. the river will remain elevated 
through much of this week. nuisance flooding is expected along the 
congaree river in columbia.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

a flood advisory means that nuisance flooding may occur nearest the 
river when the level is below the official flood stage.

* at  3 am wednesday the stage was 17.5 feet.
* flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* forecast...the river will continue to fall to a stage of 17.2 feet 
  by this evening.
* at 18.0 feet...several homes in the sandy run subdivision along the 
  river become flooded. at 18 feet the river covers the weston lake  
  overlook in the congaree national park. between 18 and 18.5 feet 
  the river begins to cover sections of the elevated boardwalk.
* at 17.0 feet...the access road to the sandy run subdivision becomes 
  flooded. the lower boardwalk in the congaree national park becomes 
  flooded by cedar creek.
* at 15.0 feet...flooding begins in the congaree national park.

  lowest homes in the pines area may be flooded and homes may be surrounded by 
  water in the pines area and between the pepsi plant and the river. chickenfoot
  road, noir street and hestertown road may be impassable.
