* impact...at 9 feet...major flood stage. there is 1 to 2 feet of 
  water in homes and vacation properties near warrensburg.  sections 
  of the highway are flooded along the right bank of river mostly 
  upstream of gage.

* at  5:46 am saturday the stage was 19.4 feet. 
* flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* forecast...the river will continue rising to near 19.5 feet by this
  morning. the river will fall below flood stage monday afternoon.
* impact...at 20.0 feet...flooding is expected along the river in 
  portions of wethersfield...glastonbury...rocky hill and cromwell. 
  the high waters and swift flows will disrupt some cross river ferry
  services.  upstream of hartford...flooding will continue to affect 
  portions of windsor.   immediate river roads may become impassable 
  in all of these communities. further downstream flooding will 
  continue to overspread sections of portland...middletown as well as
  chester. some immediate river roads will be impassable.

  southward through essex.

the national weather service in wilmington nc has issued a

* flood advisory for minor flooding of poor drainage areas in...

  eastern brunswick county in southeast north carolina
  new hanover county in southeast north carolina
  pender county in southeast north carolina

* until 800 am edt

* at 602 am edt national weather service doppler radar continued to  
  show widespread rain with embedded heavier downpours across the    
  entire cape fear area. the steadiest and heaviest of rain is       
  expected to slowly shift away from the area through sunrise.

* locations in the advisory include but are not limited to
  atkinson...burgaw...st. helena...watha...carolina beach...kure
  beach...wilmington...bald head island...belville...bolivia...
  caswell beach...leland...navassa...sandy creek...varnamtown and
  yaupon beach.

additional rainfall amounts of one-half to one and one-half inches 
of rain are expected. this rain will be falling on saturated soil 
given much of the area has received around 2 inches of rainfall 
since friday.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

heavy rainfall will cause flooding at poor drainage locations.
ponding of water can be expected at low spots at intersections...
streets...and underpasses. other low-lying areas like retention ponds
and drainage ditches will become flooded and should be avoided. do
not drive through flooded areas since your vehicle may stall and you
may become stranded.
