* minor flooding is forecast.
* forecast...the river at congaree national park-gadsden 
  will rise above flood stage early today and crest around 16.6 feet
  this weekend and early next week. 
* at 17 feet...the access road to the sandy run subdivision becomes 
  flooded. 
* at 15 feet...flooding begins in the congaree national park.

  central henderson county in western north carolina...

* until 945 am est.

* at 530 am est, doppler radar indicated heavy rain that will cause 
  small stream flooding in the advisory area.  the stream gauge on 
  mud creek at erkwood dr. reported a level of 6.4 feet. action 
  stage is 6.5 feet. additional rain moving through the area this 
  morning will result in the creek rising again above action stage.

* some locations that will experience flooding include...
  hendersonville, valley hill and flat rock. at 6.5 feet, mud creek 
  may be reaching bankfull at a few locations along erkwood dr.

dangers of flooding.

  west central spartanburg county in upstate south carolina...

* at 524 am est, doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
  thunderstorms. this will cause small stream flooding in the 
  advisory area. the stream gauge at the middle tyger river near 
  gramling was reporting a height of 9.7 feet. action stage is 8.0 
  feet.

* flooding will remain over mainly rural areas of northeastern 
  greenville and west central spartanburg counties. at 8.0 feet, 
  resin creek is flooding near its confluence with the middle tyger 
  river, partially flooding mt. lebanon church rd immediately west 
  of the gauge site.

  below action stage tomorrow evening.

  ohio river at pittsburgh affecting allegheny county.

 
.the melting of the snow that has fallen across the region and 
the rain expected over the next 24 hours, will be sufficient to 
cause the ohio river at pittsburgh to rise to the stage of 18.0 
feet thursday afternoon. 

the ohio river begins to flood the monongahela river parking wharf 
at 18.0 feet. the ohio river at the point in pittsburgh is forecast 
to crest at 18.5 feet late thursday night.

...a flood warning for small streams for rain and snowmelt remains in
effect until 1045 am est for giles...northeastern bland...summers...
mercer and monroe counties until 1045 am est...

at 609 am est, reporting river gauges across the region indicated
that minor flooding continued, particularly along indian creek in monroe 
county and the bluestone river near the summers and mercer county line.
warming temperatures into the 40s and even low 50s has resulted in rapid
snow melt across the region. that along with additional rainfall of nearly
an inch in some areas during the past 24 hours as contributed to the
flooding ongoing across the region at this hour.

this includes the following streams and drainages...
harmon branch...
bluestone river...
nobusiness creek...
little laurel creek...
pocosin fork...
and indian creek.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

excessive runoff on saturated ground from recent rainfall and ongoing
snow melt will result in flooding of small creeks and streams,
country roads, farmland, and other low lying spots.

stay away or be swept away. river banks and culverts can become
unstable and unsafe.

a flood warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. all
interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.

when it is safe to do so, please send your reports of flooding,
including mudslides or flooded roads, to the national weather service
