...gusty winds will accompany arriving storm system later

.a strong pacific storm system will approach the california coast
on sunday. southerly winds in advance of this system will increase
sunday afternoon and evening, especially along the coast and in
the hills. locally strong and gusty winds will then continue
through sunday night and monday. strongest winds are anticipated
on monday as a frontal boundary gradually moves south through the
area. winds will slowly decrease on monday night.

coastal north bay including point reyes national seashore-
north bay interior valleys-north bay mountains-
san francisco bay shoreline-san francisco peninsula coast-
east bay interior valleys-east bay hills and the diablo range-
santa cruz mountains-santa clara valley including san jose-
southern salinas valley/arroyo seco and lake san antonio-
santa lucia mountains and los padres national forest-
mountains of san benito county and interior monterey county
including pinnacles national park-
northern salinas valley/hollister valley and carmel valley-

* timing...sunday afternoon through monday night. strongest winds
  expected monday and monday evening. 

* winds... sustained southerly winds 20 to 35 mph with gusts of 40
  to 50 mph. 

* impacts...gusty winds will make driving difficult especially for
  drivers of high profile vehicles. saturated soils will also
  contribute to an increased risk of downed trees and powerlines
  during these stronger winds. 

precautionary/preparedness actions...

a wind advisory means that sustained winds of 35 mph and gusts of
45 mph are expected. winds this strong can make driving
difficult...especially for high profile vehicles. use extra
caution. winds this strong combined with saturated soils can result
in downed trees and power outages.
