...the flood warning continues for the following rivers in southwest 
lower michigan...

  grand river at robinson township affecting ottawa county

.rain showers are expected tonight into friday as a trough of low 
pressure moves through the great lakes region. a quarter to a half
inch of rain is forecast through friday evening, which may bring
additional rises to area rivers. the following forecast is based on 
observed and forecast 48 hour precipitation. in addition, the forecast
at robinson township will be affected by the ice in the river. with 
warming temperatures the next few days the ice may begin to break up, 
melt and start to move.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

safety message...motorists should not attempt to drive around 
barricades or drive cars through flooded areas.

  red cedar river above williamston affecting ingham county
  red cedar river at east lansing affecting ingham county
  looking glass river near eagle affecting clinton county

...the national weather service in grand rapids has issued a flood 
advisory for the following rivers in southwest lower michigan...

  grand river near comstock park affecting kent county
  pere marquette river near scottville affecting mason county

.rainfall runoff from earlier this week is still causing rivers to 
rise, and an additional quarter to half inch of rainfall tonight 
into friday may cause additional rises. low-land flooding near 
riverbanks is expected, but only a couple rivers need to be 
monitored for the potential of more substantial impacts to property.
the following forecast is based on observed and forecast 48 hour 
precipitation.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

safety message...caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.

a flood advisory means minor flooding is possible and rivers are 
forecast to exceed bankfull.  if you are in the advisory area remain 
alert to possible flooding...or the possibility of the advisory being
upgraded to a warning.  report observed flooding to local emergency 
services or law enforcement and request they pass this information on
to the national weather service.

.the looking glass river crested just shy of minor flood stage on 
tuesday and has fallen a foot as of wednesday morning. the river is 
still running above bankfull and this is expected to continue for 
the time being. some fluctuations in river level will continue to 
occur. the following forecast is based on observed and forecast 48 
hour precipitation.
