southwest lower michigan...

  pere marquette river near scottville affecting mason county

...the flood advisory continues for the following rivers in southwest
lower michigan...

  muskegon river at evart affecting osceola county

.the current weather is dominated by high pressure. the extended
outlook supports dry conditions through early thursday. moisture will
begin to stream in by thursday afternoon and friday with
precipitation amounts generally around a half inch or less. the
following forecast is based on observed and forecast 24 hour
precipitation.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

safety message... caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.

a flood advisory means minor flooding is possible and rivers are 
forecast to exceed bankfull. if you are in the advisory area... 
remain alert to possible flooding or the possibility of the
advisory being upgraded to a warning. report observed flooding to
local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass
this information on to the national weather service.

* forecast...the river will continue to fall to 3.7 feet by friday

* impact...at 4.0 feet...river is bankfull.  overflow of low lying 
  areas adjacent to the river occurs

  the fox river near berlin.
* at  1:15 pm wednesday the stage was 13.1 feet. 
* flood stage is 13.0 feet. 
* minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* impact...at 13.2 feet...there is minor flooding in the berlin area 
  and downstream in scotts park in omro. this level is about a 50 
  percent chance flood meaning there is a 50 percent chance in any 
  given year of the river reaching this level.

...the national weather service in marquette is continuing the flood 
advisory for the paint river at crystal falls in iron county...

.cooler temperatures on tuesday combined with a marginal remaining
snowpack across much of the paint river basin have resulted in
lowering river levels this afternoon and evening. this trend is
expected to continue through tonight...resulting in river levels
below bankful by late thursday morning.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

safety message...residents along these rivers should remain alert and
exercise caution when walking near riverbanks.

a flood advisory means minor flooding is possible and rivers are 
forecast to exceed bankfull. if you are in the advisory area remain 
alert to possible flooding...or the possibility of the advisory being
