.a front passing over the sierra will produce a strong pressure
gradient from the mountains to the coast. as a result strong and
gusty northeast winds will develop later tonight into saturday
morning over the hills of the bay area. wind gusts to 45 mph will
be likely.

* location...the hills above 1000 feet...including the north and
east bay hills as well as the santa cruz mountains. strongest
winds will occur above 1500 feet.
* timing...11 pm friday night through 10 am saturday morning.
* winds...northerly 15 to 30 mph with frequent gusts to 45 mph.
* impacts...downed trees...limbs and powerlines will be
possible. secure loose outdoor objects such as lawn furniture.
precautionary/preparedness actions...
a wind advisory means that winds of 35 mph are expected. winds
this strong can make driving difficult...especially for high
profile vehicles. use extra caution.

.high pressure building as a weak system exits to the south will
bring a period of breezy to gusty north winds across northern
california tonight and saturday. winds will strengthen over the
northern sacramento valley tonight and then spread southward
by early saturday. the strongest winds are expected for areas
west of the sacramento valley and over the coast range. secure
lighter loose objects and watch for blowing debris while driving.
