at 4 am pdt...southerly swell generated by former hurricane marie
continue to affect the coastal waters. latest buoys report swells
of 5-7 feet at 14-15 second period and swell direction of 150-170
degrees. these conditions will continue through friday. as marie
weakens and moves northwest...swell direction will switch to the
southwest this weekend while swell heights decrease to around 3-4
feet. even though this is just below beach hazards criteria...mariners
and fishermen should be prepared for stronger than typical
currents through the week especially if they are planning on
diving or entering the water.
