waves are the significant wave height - the average of the
highest 1/3 of the wave spectrum. occasional wave height is the
average of the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum.

.synopsis... 

a 30.1 inch high remains over lake superior today into sunday 
morning. meanwhile, broad 29.6 inch low pressure over the northern 
rockies this afternoon further deepens to at least 29.4 inches while 
moving into the high plains into saturday. by sunday afternoon, the 
high over lake superior retreats eastward but keeps 30.0 inch 
ridging over the upper great lakes while the low pressure remains 
over the plains. the high pressure then shifts over to lake ontario 
by monday morning as the 29.4 inch low pressure consolidates over 
south dakota. through monday and tuesday, this low slides north to 
lake winnipeg while the 30.1 inch high shifts off the east coast. 
this progressively strengthens troughing over lake superior to 29.8 
inches by monday evening, remaining that way until tuesday morning. 
a shortwave low lifting from colorado then deepens the troughing 
over lake superior to 29.7 inches by tuesday evening as it heads 
toward northern ontario. with a 30.1 inch high developing over the 
southeastern u.s. on wednesday, we could see 29.9 inch ridging 
return over lake superior late in the day.
