Republican Arizona official says GOP legislator admitted there was 'nothing to' election fraud allegations

Quote:
Karen Fann, the Arizona state Senate president and a Republican, has supported the state legislature's "forensic audit" of the 2020 presidential vote in Maricopa County, which was won by President Biden. Fann said earlier this month that the audit is "not about" former President Donald Trump, who continues to baselessly claim that widespread voter fraud especially in states like Arizona and Georgia cost him the election. "This is not about overturning the election," Fann added. "This has never been about anything other than election integrity."

But a Republican member of the Maricopa Board of Supervisers named Bill Gates (no, not that Bill Gates) told The New Yorker's Jane Mayer that Fann had previously confided in him that she knew there was "nothing to" the fraud allegations. Mayer writes that Fann then ultimately "buckled under the political pressure and authorized a subpoena of the county's ballots." Fann did not respond to Mayer's request comment. Section 3 of the 14th Amendment!

This final revelation Trumps 27 December call to the acting attorney general in which he pleads Just say the election was corrupt + leave the rest to me should trigger section 3 of the 14th amendment, which bars anyone from holding office who engaged in insurrection against the US.

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2021/aug/03/donald-trump-memo-election-corrupt-justice-department

No Person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

Trump appointee at DOJ eyed scandalous Georgia election scheme

Quote:
In the wake of Donald Trump's defeat last fall, the then-president created a political crisis at the Justice Department, as the White House explored ways to use federal law enforcement to reward Trump with power he hadn't earned. The details of the crisis are still coming into focus.

ABC News ran this striking report yesterday, which is an amazing piece of a larger puzzle.

Top members of the Department of Justice last year rebuffed another DOJ official who asked them to urge officials in Georgia to investigate and perhaps overturn President Joe Biden's victory in the state -- long a bitter point of contention for former President Donald Trump and his team -- before the results were certified by Congress, emails reviewed by ABC News show.

According to the materials, which have not been independently verified by MSNBC or NBC News, Jeffrey Clark -- at the time, the acting head of the Justice Department's civil division -- wrote emails that would urge Georgia Republicans to take the Big Lie seriously.

The emails were dated Dec. 28, 2020 -- exactly one week before the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol -- and Clark apparently wanted a green light from then-acting attorney general Jeffrey Rosen and then-acting deputy attorney general Richard Donoghue.

Clark's message intended to tell officials in Georgia that the Justice Department was investigating "irregularities" in the presidential election and wanted state legislators to go into a special session "pertaining to the appointment of presidential electors."

The same letter went on to suggest that if Republican legislators appointed their own slate of electors -- backing Trump, despite the fact that he lost in Georgia -- they theoretically could be accepted as legitimate.

Or put another way, the acting head of the Justice Department's civil division late last year, created a map of sorts that GOP officials in Georgia could follow to overturn the will of the state's voters.

We now know, of course, that the plan didn't work. Georgia

According to Durbin, Rosen testified that Trump directly pressured him to falsely assert that continuing election fraud investigations cast doubt on President Joe Biden's victory.

"It was real. Very real. And it was very specific," Durbin said of Trump's pressure on Rosen. "The former president is not subtle when he wants something."

Dominions lawsuits against Trump allies can move forward after judge rejects arguments

Quote:
The ruling by U.S. District Judge Carl J. Nichols in Washington allows lawsuits by Dominion Voting Systems against former Trump attorneys Sidney Powell and Rudolph W. Giuliani and MyPillow chief executive Mike Lindell to move forward.

In a written decision, Nichols said that Powell and Lindell made their claims knowing that they were false or with reckless disregard for the truth.

A reasonable juror could conclude that Powell did not have a video of Dominions founder saying that he can change a million votes, no problem at all," as she had claimed, the judge wrote. Nichols also wrote that a sensible juror could conclude that Lindells insistence on the existence of a vast international conspiracy that is ignored by the government but proven by a spreadsheet on an internet blog is so inherently improbable that only a reckless man would believe it, referencing Lindells assertion that a spreadsheet he tweeted out as proof of Trumps victory was evidence.

Giuliani requested that the complaint against him be dismissed for three reasons: Dominion is a corporation, it may only recover lost profits, and that the company must plead damages for its defamation claim.

The lies continue with loser 45 continuing to spread the lies with backup from Fox News.

Afghan refugees are the latest target.

Their numbers are wrong, their conclusion is wrong and fear is the primary motivator.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/afghanistan-evacuees-us-housing-17000-in-5-states-40000-overseas/

What are they thinking? Are these refugees somehow going to collectively storm the Capitol and interrupt Congressional Processes?

Thorough screening of incoming refugees is pretty standard.

Screening old, angry white people pretty much not.

I suggest using AI facial recognition software to not only identify those who entered the Capitol but to every person who breached a barricade around the Capitol grounds.

Charges to include illegal trespass and conspiracy to disrupt Congress.

Let them all plead out and pay significant fines/restituition to pay for the damage done during their insurrection.

I'll be taking donations to purchase the software so no rock is left unturned!

“Justice for J6” is junior varsity. Defeating Trumpism, in all its ugly forms, is what should matter most. All else, politically speaking, comes in second.

Speaking of lies..............

Quote:
Durham Cracks the Russia Case
The special counsel’s indictment tells the real story of 2016 collusion.
By The Editorial Board WSJ
Updated Sept. 18, 2021 10:09 am ET

John Durham on Thursday indicted a Clinton campaign lawyer from 2016 for lying to the FBI, but this is no ho-hum case of deception. The special counsel’s 27-page indictment is full of new, and damning, details that underscore how the Russia collusion tale was concocted and peddled by the Clinton campaign.

Mr. Durham charged Michael Sussmann, an attorney at the Perkins Coie law firm that represented the Clinton campaign. Mr. Sussmann is accused of making false statements to then-FBI general counsel James Baker in a Sept. 19, 2016 meeting when he presented documents purporting to show secret internet communications between the Trump Organization and Russia-based Alfa bank.

The indictment says Mr. Sussmann assured Mr. Baker he was not doing this work “‘for any client,’ which led the FBI General Counsel to understand that SUSSMANN was acting as a good citizen merely passing along information, not as a paid advocate or political operative.” This was false, says the indictment, which documents how Mr. Sussmann was working with other Democrats (including fellow Perkins Coie lawyer Marc Elias ) and billing his time to the Clinton campaign.

Mr. Sussmann’s lie “deprived the FBI” of crucial information, says the indictment, and led the agency to initiate an investigation into the Trump-Alfa claim, which was quickly leaked to the media. Mr. Sussmann didn’t lie to the FBI to protect himself. He is accused of lying to the FBI to trigger an investigation into a rival campaign based on a false claim of Russia-Trump collusion. He has pleaded not guilty.
