The mainstreaming of the "Great Replacement" theory

Quote:
The Buffalo shooting suspect’s alleged manifesto repeatedly cited a racist idea called the "Great Replacement" theory. MSNBC’s Ayman Mohyeldin calls out the pundits and politicians who helped popularize these theories and bring them into the mainstream.

Fox News Potentially Facing Major Financial Damage In Dogged Suit Over Election Lies

Quote:
Amassive $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit by a voting machine company over Fox News election lies got a whole lot more serious last month when a judge ruled the action can proceed in a scathing ruling against Rupert Murdoch and his son.

Dominion Voting Systems was given the green light in June to proceed in its suit against both Fox News and Fox Corp, its parent company, by Delaware Supreme Court Judge Eric David.

He determined that it was a reasonable inference that Murdoch and son Lachlan either knew outright that Dominion had not manipulated the election or “recklessly disregarded the truth” when Fox disseminated lies initially launched by Donald Trump.

Conservative news outlets OAN and Newsmax have also been sued by Dominion for defamation for $1.6 billion each.

“Dominion has a very strong case against Fox News,” Ciara Torres-Spelliscy, a constitutional law professor at Florida’s Stetson University and fellow at the Brennan Center for Justice, told The Guardian.

It is pretty clear now FUX news lied. If we were using the standards put on liberal journalists, well In-sanity would be off the major networks with walking papers. To this date no one has ever proven the rathergate issue was not true. But the right wing demanded those people be fired.

Here we know In-sanity -Fux lied.

so right wingers it is apparent you love your liars... not to mention racists.. Isn't that just part of who and what you are?

Quote:
Did Trump possibly authorize around 20,000 National Guard troops in case there were issues on January 6, 2021, but congress denied it?
On June 9, 2022 Sean Hannity of Fox News stated: “Donald Trump authorized up to 20,000 National Guard troops to protect the Capitol but was "rejected" by Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer."

When twenty million Americans began watching the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, the Fox audience got to watch an inventory of conspiracy theories from Phucker Carlson and Hannity.

Hannity had said repeatedly that trump authorized 20,000 National Guard troops for the Capitol before the riot. He said his efforts were thwarted by Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer.

trump then reiterated Hannity saying he "offered up to 20,000 National Guard" before the event and that "crazy Nancy Pelosi turned down the offer."

There is no evidence to support such a claim and there is still no record of any such authorisation being made. "This is not true," Pelosi’s deputy chief of staff, Drew Hammill, said. "The Speaker of the House does not have the power to do this. No request was made for the National Guard before Jan. 6."

"No congressional official or body, has the authority to activate the National Guard to the U.S. Capitol, only the president. The D.C. National Guard reports "solely to the president of the United States." (It’s there as per its website.) And if the president calls the National Guard to the U.S. Capitol, no congressional official has the authority to decline its service.

As a matter of further fact, then-Vice President Mike Pence had called for the National Guard on Jan. 6 — not trump.

Naturally, Fox News chose to run with its tail between its legs. It refused to respond to a request for comment and the gullible little foxettes are running on empty.

Judge green lights defamation lawsuit against Fox, Lou Dobbs

Quote:

NEW YORK (AP) — A defamation lawsuit against Fox Corp., Fox News Network and Lou Dobbs can proceed toward trial, a judge ruled Monday after concluding that a Venezuelan businessman had made sufficient claims of being unfairly accused of trying to corrupt the 2020 U.S. presidential election to be permitted to gather more evidence.

The lawsuit filed last year alleged that businessman Majed Khalil was defamed by Dobbs on “Lou Dobbs Tonight” and in tweets.

It said the former Fox personality joined with attorney Sidney Powell on a December 2020 show to claim that Khalil and three others designed and developed programs and machines to corrupt the presidential election.

Lawyers for Fox and Dobbs had tried to convince U.S. District Judge Louis L. Stanton in Manhattan to toss out the lawsuit before evidence such as depositions and emails could be reviewed, but the judge said Khalil had sufficiently claimed that his reputation was harmed by false accusations.

The judge said Khalil may be able to argue to a jury that actual malice occurred because the defendants “repeatedly maintained their claims about Khalil long after Powell's election fraud theories were challenged.”

He wrote that numerous reports declaring the falsity of claims against voting machine manufacturers Smartmatic Corp. and Dominion Voting Systems and rejecting Powell as a source of accurate information gave the defendants “reasons to doubt Powell's veracity and the accuracy of her reports.”

Stanton said Khalil had sufficiently alleged that “the defendants purposefully avoided the truth, given the amount of public information regarding the lack of fraud in the election.”

He rejected arguments by lawyers for Fox that it cannot be held liable for statements made by Dobbs and Powell.

The judge noted that Fox controlled Twitter accounts from which many of the statements were first made.

He said the network's executives were also on notice that allegations regarding election rigging by Dominion and Smartmatic were false because they had received several emails from the companies and had conversations with Dominion.

Hannity admits it: He knew Trump lied as legal earthquake rocks Fox News empire

Quote:
A New York State appeals court rejected Fox News’ attempt to shut down a multibillion-dollar defamation suit against the network. The company that brought the case, Smartmatic, accuses Fox News of spreading lies that the voting-technology company helped rig the 2020 election in favor of President Biden. The decision comes as Dominion Voting Systems’ wages a similar $1.6 billion lawsuit against Fox News. MSNBC Chief Legal Correspondent Ari Melber reports on this developing legal story.

Rupert Murdoch suggested Fox News hosts Carlson, Hannity and Ingraham go on air and say Joe Biden had won 2020 election, court filing says

Quote:
Rupert Murdoch, the chairman of Fox Corporation, once suggested that Fox News hosts Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity, and Laura Ingraham could go on air and declare that Joe Biden won the 2020 presidential election.

The conversations between Fox News chiefs were revealed in a 200-page filing on Thursday by Dominion Voting Systems lawyers as part of their defamation lawsuit against the network.

On January 5, 2021, Murdoch emailed Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott: "It's been suggested our prime time three should independently or together say something like 'the election is over, and Joe Biden won.'"

He said that such a statement "would go a long way to stop the Trump myth that the election was stolen."

Scott then forwarded Murdoch's suggestion to Meade Cooper, the primetime programming SVP. He wrote: "I told Rupert that privately they are all there — we need to be careful about using the shows and pissing off the viewers but they know how to navigate."

Text messages and emails between Fox hosts and executives reveal that while they privately accepted that Donald Trump had lost the election, the network continued to air pro-Trump conspiracy theories about election fraud.

Murdoch privately described the election fraud claims as "damaging" and "crazy," according to the filing.

When Trump became president, Murdoch, and his media outlets, particularly Fox News, supported him in what was often described as a marriage of convenience.

However, the relationship fractured over the years, and in 2020 Fox News was the first network to call Arizona in favor of Biden, infuriating Trump.

The rift between Trump and the Murdoch empire has continued to widen, particularly following the Republican party's lackluster performance in the 2022 midterm elections, which was widely blamed on Trump.

Despite this, many Fox News hosts have continued to express public deference towards Trump.

Dominion's defamation lawsuit seeks $1.6 billion in damages and claims that Fox News pushed a conspiracy theory that the election-technology company helped rig the 2020 presidential election for its own commercial gain. Dominion claims that this led to their business and employees suffering.

Fox News has previously denied the charges and said that it reported fairly on the election and its aftermath.

"Dominion's motion for summary judgment takes an extreme and unsupported view of defamation law and rests on an accounting of the facts that has no basis in the record," a Fox News spokesperson told Insider about Thursday's court filing.

"Dominion has mischaracterized the record, cherry-picked quotes stripped of key context, and spilled considerable ink on facts that are irrelevant under black-letter principles of defamation law."

this next one is great, it has fox idiots saying in a email a fox journalist who said there was no evidence of vote fraud be fired... fire her because the stock price is dropping and will drop more . hahahahaha 1.6 billion lawsuit...

Fox News texts give judge 'unheard of' chance to rule in billion dollar defamation lawsuit: legal experts

Quote:
The "staggering volume" of texts from Fox News personalities showing they knew they were lying to their viewers about 2020 election fraud could lead the judge overseeing the $1.6 billion Dominion lawsuits to quickly rule against the conservative network without even going to trial.

That is the opinion of legal scholars -- some of whom were stunned by the mountain of evidence presented in the legal brief submitted to the court by Dominion Voting Systems -- who spoke with the Guardian's Charles Kaiser.

With the Fox hosts candidly admitting in private texts that they lied on-air in an effort to drive up their ratings, several of the legal experts suggested Delaware Superior Court Judge Eric M. Davis could make a landmark ruling and cut to the damages phase.

According to noted legal scholar Laurence Tribe, "I have never seen a defamation case with such overwhelming proof that the defendant admitted in writing that it was making up fake information in order to increase its viewership and its revenues. Fox and its producers and performers were lying as part of their business model.”

Fox could be on the hook for campaign finance violations after new court docs drop: former FBI agent

Quote:

The lawsuit between Dominion Voting Systems and Fox News came to a head in a pair of contrasting court filings on Monday that revealed several details previously unknown about the definition lawsuit against the network that claims to be "fair and balanced."

Donald Trump

Among the details revealed is that News Corp. CEO Rupert Murdoch gave election assistance to Donald Trump's campaign, but it wasn't just about strategy. Fox got their hands on ads from Joe Biden's campaign that hadn't been released publicly. Campaigns submit their ads for commercial buys and typically release the videos publicly after they're playing on the air. After getting the videos, Fox handed the ads over to the Trump campaign.

Former FBI agent Asha Rangappa questioned whether it could be considered an in-kind donation to a political campaign from a corporation directly to a candidate.

"An in-kind contribution is a non-monetary contribution. Goods or services offered free or at less than the usual charge result in an in-kind contribution," the Federal Elections Commission says on its website. "Similarly, when a person or entity pays for services on the committee’s behalf, the payment is an in-kind contribution. An expenditure made by any person or entity in cooperation, consultation or concert with, or at the request or suggestion of, a candidate’s campaign is also considered an in-kind contribution to the candidate."

Most recently, in the campaign finance case involving Trump's hush money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels, the FEC indicated that they would investigate it, but the Justice Department took over the probe.

Stunning Court Claim: Tucker Carlson’s Top Producer Questioned Whether Maria Bartiromo Was Having An Affair With House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy

Quote:

Story by Connor Surmonte • 6h ago

Fox News host Tucker Carlson’s top producer allegedly questioned whether fellow network star Maria Bartiromo was having a secret sexual relationship with House Republican leader Kevin McCarthy, court documents obtained by RadarOnline.com reveal.

In a sudden development to come as Fox News prepares to battle Dominion Voting Systems in court next month over a $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit, network producer Abby Grossberg has filed two new lawsuits against her employer.

According to the court documents obtained by RadarOnline.com, the two lawsuits were filed in New York and Delaware on Monday and claim Fox News tried to make both Bartiromo and Grossberg “scapegoats” in connection to the network’s coverage of Dominion in the weeks following the 2020 presidential election.

Even more shocking are the lawsuits’ claims that Fox News created a culture of sexual harassment and general misogyny throughout the network – including at least seven explosive instances where Grossberg herself was targeted by the alleged harassment and misogyny.

During one purported instance in September 2022, Grossberg was “unlawfully harassed” by Tucker Carlson Tonight producers Justin Wells and Alexander McCaskill after the producers called Grossberg into their office to ask whether Bartiromo was “f---ing” McCarthy.

“The next day, Mr. Wells called Ms. Grossberg into his office, where Mr. McCaskill was present, and asked her an uncomfortable sexual question about her former boss: ‘Is Maria Bartiromo f-----g Kevin McCarthy?’” Monday’s lawsuit against Fox News read.
