Man, I was lucky.

You still are, although fortunate is probably a better word than lucky as we all have the ability to set up our lives as we wish.
Have fun skiing in the Alps, I hope to go there to ski one day. |

I am still lucky, super-lucky. Upon re-reading that comment comes across as a bit of a humble-brag... but ya know what, I'll own up to it and leave it as is _________________ __________________________________________

Hey Josh, I purposefully left you out of my comment to avoid getting too sappy. But it looks like you have that part covered all by yourself! haha! I'm sure, Josh, that if you put your mind to creating a new publication, it would do very well.
In all honesty, the mag definitely "tied the room together," out here at least. We're still having lots of fun and doing our best to promote and make events happen and gather the tribe, but Windsurfing Mag (and the NEWJ) was a big part of that equation.
If Pete's reading, maybe he'll take the cue and bring the Windsport board and sail tests back to Hatteras, where they belong. Make Derek travel!! _________________ formerly known as hodad.andy

I cringed myself while writing, but it was mostly because I realized threads about the magazine are the only thing that gets a post out of me (although to be fair, i've started more than a few posts, then just said, 'acccctually, i'm staying out of this conversation...')
I must have missed the news about NEWJ. Big bummer. Andy - Jim B is coming over to Austria for a month and we are going to get some skiing in doubt you can make it but if you can I will be waiting for you at the airport! _________________ __________________________________________

Pleased that my thread has some nostalgic riptide
perhaps even more so that it is now into 3 pages (almost ) without any of the
point counterpoint that have been prevalent of late.
My original post made reference to Windsport, where they test to me is not as important as a real world test for real world North American Sailors.
Hardly any better than OBX, different thread.
FWIW I renewed my Windsurf UK magazine yesterday, $107 for a year, it is one of my Christmas gifts to me. _________________ K4 fins

I miss Josh.
I miss print.
The electronic Media lacks the perspective of a monthly periodical.
Posting boards lend false credibility to quantity: instead of quality.
There is joy in waiting for... anticipating... and receiving, each issue.
There is a tactile joy to turning pages.
A joy and appreciation of viewing art [carefully chosen] in printed photos on glossy paper stock.
I miss the smell of a new magazine.
I miss the smell of an old magazine.
These are things that a keyboard and monitor can never replace. |

I can get you some spray on magazine smell for you laptop if that will help.
I definitely miss Josh, but I'll probably run into him in HR.
For me the real joy is in the windsurfing, but I like a bit of windsurf porn every now and then. Heck, that's why I make the videos.

I miss it too. It had ups and downs but was good when Josh was at the helm. |

I miss it so much I'm thinking about heading to Austria just to see Josh
For real...looking at it from 30k feet, it was a bigger than I thought part of my interest in Windsurfing. |
