...winter weather advisory for the big island summits above
11000 feet...
.although the summits have cleared overnight...conditions around
the big island remained unstable. showers...and possibly
thunderstorms...are likely to build along the slopes of mauna kea
and mauna loa by this afternoon. because of very cold temperatures
aloft...precipitation falling over higher elevations of the big
island is likely to be mostly frozen...in the form of snow...snow
pellets...sleet...or hail. freezing fog and rime icing also will be
possible. these conditions may pose hazards for anyone on or near
the big island summits.
