the national weather service in duluth has issued a winter
weather advisory for snow...which is in effect from noon today to
7 am friday.
* location...the borderland from international falls to ely...and
from hibbing to hoyt lakes.
* timing...noon today to 7 am friday.
* snow accumulations...5 to 7 inches is expected.
* impacts...roads will become snow covered and slippery.
a winter weather advisory for snow means that accumulating snow
will cause travel difficulties. be prepared for snow covered roads
and reduced visibility...and use caution while driving. allow
extra time to reach your destination.

...late season moderate snow late thursday afternoon through friday
morning across the keweenaw peninsula...
.low pressure moving out of the northern plains will bring
widespread precipitation to much of upper michigan this afternoon
into friday. since temperatures will be right around freezing...a mix
of rain and snow is expected. temperatures are expected to be low
enough to result in snow over the keweenaw peninsula...especially
tonight into friday. the snow may fall heavy at times tonight...with
gusty east to southeast winds causing blowing snow. conditions will
slowly improve during the day friday.
including the cities of...copper harbor...houghton...hancock

the national weather service in marquette has issued a winter
weather advisory for snow...which is in effect from 6 pm this
evening to 11 am edt friday. the winter storm watch is no longer in
* precipitation will begin this afternoon as a mix of rain and snow
before transitioning to mainly snow late this afternoon. snow may
fall heavy at times tonight...and slowly diminish in intensity
* storm total snowfall of 3 to 8 inches is expected...with the
highest amounts across the elevated terrain from hancock through
mohawk and copper harbor.
* roads will become snow and slush covered.
* gusty east to southeast winds of 15 to 25 mph tonight may result
in blowing and drifting snow.
