open lake forecast for lake erie
national weather service cleveland oh
940 am edt thu mar 26 2026

for waters beyond five nautical miles of shore on lake erie

waves are the significant wave height - the average of the highest
1/3 of the wave spectrum. occasional wave height is the average of
the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum.

.synopsis...
a ridge averaging 30.40 inches continues to exit to the east and
south before a strong cold front sweeps south-southeastward
across lake erie late this afternoon through early evening.
behind the cold front, another ridge averaging 30.40 inches should
influence lake erie through this weekend as the embedded high
pressure center wobbles from the north-central united states
toward virginia and vicinity. this evolution of the ridge will
allow a warm front to drift northward across lake erie saturday
night. on monday, the ridge should exit southeastward as a cold
front settles southeastward across lake erie and potentially
stalls over and near the lake.
