If a liter of water weighs 2.2 lbs., is 40 lbs. of sailor weight equivalent to 18 liters of board volume?
And is there a similar calculation to compare sail sizes?
I often swap boards and rigs with people that I sail with and am amazed by the different perception of the boards. I finally did the above calculation, which explained a lot, but am not confident that Im doing the calculation correctly, or interpreting the results correctly. |

Actually, I really asking whether or not an 80 liter board should feel the same to a 140 lb. sailor as a 98 liter board to a 180 lb. sailor.
This has more or less been my experience, and I was looking for confirmation. |

Good question. I think if you want the answer you have to ask a 140 lb. person to ware a 40 lb. sand bag. |
