Hi.
I have a glass 8,3 Hi tech Blaster that I really love. It turns very easily on the face of Gorge swell. This board works very well for me in 4.2 to 3.2 winds. (I weigh 170 lbs).
My big board is an F2 Starlit 88liters 84 its a very stable board but I have to come out of the back foot strap to turn it sharply on Gorge swell. I would like to replace the F2 with another big board that turns as well as my Hi tech but will work in lighter winds (4.7 to 6.0) and I can stay in the back foot strap to turn sharply. What would you recommend?

Ive sailed a friends AHD Maxx Ride 62 which Ive really liked (I think thats the one - in any case, an AHD). Smooth in chop, quick to turn, VERY stable. I think you can demo them at Swiss Swell in Hood River.

Try an 8-3 Gorge Animal Bonzer. Or at least ask Les about them under a 6.0, then demo one if he thinks it will work with a 6.0. My 8-0 Bonzers have always handled 2.8-5.5 very easily, so MAYBE an 8-3 would work with a 6.0. The 01 model is smaller than the 00 and previous models, so maybe an 00 or earlier 8-3 is more likely to handle a 6.0.

But be ready to replace your Blaster if you like turning in the Gorge, because I have yet found no other board which will slash like a Bonzer at full throttle and full speed. My 8-0 is about all I use any more from 2.8 to 5.2.

If the 8-3s wont handle a 6.0 ... too bad; youll have to settle for an ordinary board and sail like everybody else.
