Yesterday, I got a new (2000) 5.1 RX1. I need a new 400 cm mast. Recommended masts are
NP Wave (30% carbon)=$320
NP Wavepro = $400
Powerex Z-Wave is 55% carbon and has more taper = $250.
Powerex NRZ is 30% and about the same taper as the NP Wave.
My belief is the Powerex is a better mast, but is the extra taper going to screw up the sail set? Also, can the RX1 end plug be made to fit the more tapered mast?
The NRZ also looks good to me ... substantially cheaper and about the same specs as the NP Wave. Has anyone used either the Powerex Z-Wave or NRZ with this RX1? |
