Lame! Since when is a swap cancelled due to THREAT of rain? I am pretty sure we've all been wet before, even got rained on at a swap or two. Bummer especially for the folks who arrived from out of town with the swap in mind. Or who want to come for the swap still. BTW, I am pretty sure not everybody reads this website for the latest news.

*I heard rumors (via nwkite website) of an unofficial swap at the south side of the Event Site parking lot. Just don't take more than one paid spot for your vehicle (otherwise you will be asked to pay for the extra spot you are encumbering). Pretty sure you cannot access the regular swap site on the other side of the street as it will be chained off, inaccessible.

The implication, judging by the image on the CGW2 website, is threat of RAIN.
However, NOBODY is talking.

Here's the CGW2 number. Maybe somebody there will answer your question.

Letting all that gear in the trailer get rain soaked and muddy and then thrown back in the trailer would not do much to preserve it's value. It is one of the main reasons for going to the CGW swaps.

We've seen that field flooded from rain before. Maybe it's too wet now, or maybe even modest rain will flood it. Just an inch of water on that hardpack would make a mellova hess.

I may just take my swap meet loot to my usual launch site Sunday and see what happens. I've sold hundreds of pieces of WSing gear out of my vans over the years.

So sorry if the cancellation of today's swap meet inconvenienced anybody. It was a judgment call, and IMO, a wise one. There were multiple reasons behind the decision, some of which are mentioned in this string.

I would not advise holding an ad hoc swap meet on Port property as these types of events require a specific license and are subject to terms & conditions, insurance, etc.

Again, so sorry..., I would only add that if you would like to be more involved in planning, decision making, and execution of events like CGW2.org swap meets, you might consider volunteering your time on CGW2.org's Swap Meet Committee.

CUSailin: Many thanks to you and the rest of the CGW2 crew that do so much for us. We appreciate what you do and consider this a wise decision.
