It's 2022 baby!!! With all those 2's, what better time to make a list to thank and honor those that have doubled in the gorge? I apologize to anyone I have missed, please add to the list (with video if possible please):

Also, thank you so much to everyone who made all these videos.

Who else is so stoked right now?!? Hahhahahaa!!! Yeah buddy!!! "Stop F-ing making excuses, get out there, and do whatever the F- it takes to reach your F-ing goals." RIP Rich Piana

Have a great day. Thanks!

Yeah Doug!!!  "I'll meet you there!"  (To maybe quote Regis Bouron from 2005 https://youtu.be/a1peHvATq3Y Hahah!! Epic vid from South Africa!)

To add to the list of Doubles in the Gorge, surely looks like Jeff Casper had more than one slice of cheese in 1986(?):

https://youtu.be/_R1XlGG9bPA
See ~51:55. Legend. No? Compare to the triple attempts from Campello, Guilloul, and Koster.

Speaking of triples, different sport, but beautiful commentary for multiple rotations:

THE TRIPLE FLAIR- EXTENDED BTS (How it all went down!!)
https://youtu.be/RFOIsdhl7g0

Kieran Reilly: "Going from a single to a double is a big step,  but going from a double to a triple is... as crazy as it was, I assumed the transition would be like the transition from a single to a double, it was not like that. The mental blocks were insane, so getting past... Chasing that feeling of riding out... Getting it done, because I do not want to be riding home in the car feeling the way I did last time, that was not fun... Can't wait to be in this position, riding away from a triple... that is when I'll be happy... When you're that much of a perfectionist about something, and you are that in your own head, for it to happen,  for it to pay off... well well well worth all those months of hard work."

Honor to the legends. So, how do Campello, Guilloul, and Koster sit down with "things" that big?

Have a nice day!

Nice work Beric, thanks for the stoke and hope to see you on a wave soon! We've been sailing Arlington on good west wind days this winter; some day soon our paths will cross. Wink
Chris

Yeah Chris!!! We'll all meet there!

Thank you for your beautiful swell videos from the river, e.g.:

"The Wall, WA, Columbia River, July 17, 2014" https://youtu.be/pOzYKgYhyCI
"(Unshaky version) The Hatchery, June 3, 2014: epic wind and swell" https://youtu.be/h2suCwZCuaY
"Gorge: Big Sail, Big Swell" https://youtu.be/OUiaGKisTtA
"Columbia Gorge, Loroc Island, October 14, 2016" https://youtu.be/fULZFH4oeVI

Your videos, especially your rider's view, certainly enhance my constant feelings of FOMO and that "I wish that I was there!"  Likewise, love the wake images and associated evocations from DougPraysForWind. Hahahaaa! He appears to have to wave his hands around in jubulation and disbelief at how awesome it is! Check his smile at the start just heading out too! Culmination of Anticipation happening! Stoked!!!

"windsurfing Roosevelt/Arlington pre rib-breaker, 4-29-2013, Jumps and swell highlights" https://youtu.be/XPFYB54jffE

There appeared to be a bald eagle cloud in the sky looking over your Lorocs when I was going home a couple weeks ago...

Have a great day!

Beric

Just spoke to an eyewitness (serious now, hahahaha!) that was there for Whit going for doubles at Doug's, maybe same day as his Vimeo video link listed above, see ~2:52. Remembering what "Must have been pretty early in his doubles tries ... I think I remember filmer said "he is going to go for doubles today".  He was down from the launch, alone, nobody else around him. All alone.  All I really remember after that is that he really went for them. He got really good height. He really went for them. He was getting so close. Getting around the second time. Actually the conditions were really weak. He was making the most of what was there. He kept trying. Kept getting them off. I didn't see all of it because I went sailing. I didn't want to jinx him by watching. I had to go and sail and not look because he was a young man doing something I wanted to do. What year was this? A big part of it was that he was alone. There was no one with him at the launch and he was alone on the water. Doug's was really pretty empty."

Thank you very much for your eyewitness account.

Kieran Reilly's words quoted above from his bmx triple flair video, "Going from a single to a double is a big step... transition from a single to a double..." The resources of the Red Bull crew were there with him for his epic transition to triple.

R Willy, first to triple front flip on a bmx, had the Nitro Circus crew, and was in the journey with Andrew Ahumada, and, why not, Brandon Schmidt to do a triple back.

R Willy: "It's pretty crazy just coming to Travis' and getting to use whatever I want and getting them to build whatever ramp I need... triple forwards..." Later on, "I just went through them, 3rd, 4th, 5th... and then the 6th one, I just looked up... ok, that was it. On any given day it could have been either of us that stuck it. Couldn't have done it without everyone."

Incredible story here:

The Rise of R Willy and Slaying the Triple Front Flip | Crazy Train S2 E7"
https://youtu.be/8D8yLRm2qpg

In addition to Whit, looks like parts of Wyatt's doubles progression are in that Vimeo above. Red Bull and Nitro Circus support don't appear to have been there with them? Kieran and R Willy's words and image histories to get to their goals; the significance of the support around them to make their awesome double to triple transitions.

Honor to the gorge doubles legends!

Honor to the efforts of Campello, Guilloul, and Koster for triples! Guilloul's at least wasn't even during the "support" of an event. Alone in mind.

Does anyone else have any eyewitness double forwards news? Smile Smile Smile

Have a nice day! Hope it is Majestic!

I've seen all these live and in the ditch.... Jake the snake Miller, boss of toss, "huge" Maryhill doubles. I've seen Tyson spin a few. I've seen Wyatt spin a few. I've seen mershon go fully mental on some doubles. Ascanio D'Ascanio is definitely in the club.
I've seen whit throw the biggest slowest DBL ever. A thing of beauty, #Poetry...

Pritchard put out some good pistol DBL videos. But anyone can throw doubles at pistol.?

We all suck... DBL or nothing 2022....

Thank you timsaunders for adding Jake Miller and Ascanio D'Ascanio (!) to the Gorge Doubles Legends Honor List. You saw all that... lucky!
