another complete failure of the Trump ultra partisan right winger trying to prove one example that trump did not collude with the russians every source has been proven by a court of law that they were not making shiiite up and lying. That Trump really did collude with the Russians, trump and Barr anointed this special prosecutor and he could not prove anyone was wrong or lying.

Look at this case what it started this week and already the jury made a determination.... WTF... He has had what 3-4 years and not a truth to trumps lies that he claimed it was a hoax. Ya we will not hear the right wing completely owned media putting this position out there.

Igor Danchenko, the analyst behind the so-called Steele dossier, was acquitted. It’s another blow to the Trump-era special counsel John Durham.

Mr. Danchenko was acquitted on four counts of lying to the F.B.I. about one of his sources for a notorious dossier of unproven assertions and rumors about former President Trump and Russia.

Well it's obvious what comes next:

Durham: "Oh by the way, when did you discover that Christopher Steele and Igor Danchenko were paid political operatives of the Hillary Clinton campaign? And was that before or after you used their unverified allegations in the FISA warrant?"

FBI Agent: [mumbles something unintelligible]

Durham: "I'm sorry, could you say that louder?"

FBI Agent: "Do I have to?"

Durham: "Yes."

FBI Agent: Well it was in September of 2016 that...."

Durham: "So you knew that both Steele and Danchenko were doing opposition research for the Clinton campaign when you took these allegations from them and made use of them in your FISA warrant targeting Carter Page? That they were contractors working for Hillary Clinton?

FBI Agent: "Well...yes."

fool, Carter Page's activities had justified FISA warrant(s) before he even met Trump you dumber than dumb Moscow agent. So was that a record setting time for a trial acquittal that took 3-4 years to do

6 hours unanimous on first one, and this one 9 hours jury deliberations.
general is 86% feds win cases, defense did not call one witness....

with this failure it turns out it damaged national security when trump Barr outed this covert agent/informant that was outed. Right wingers do not care about our national security...

This was not a FBI coverup either, this guy did not work for the FBI, so no deep state here, as wildly lied about by Trump and right wingers....

Trump's Conspiracy Theory Collides With Reality In Another Embarrassing Durham Failure

2 Alex Wagner reports on the acquittal of Igor Danchenko on all charges of lying to the FBI in a last bid case brought by special counsel John Durham who was tasked by Donald Trump attorney general Bill Barr with investigating the Russia investigation to give some credence to Trump's deep state conspiracy theories, only to fail miserably.

Legal experts mock failed Durham probe: No other prosecutor “has ever posted such a dismal record”

Quote:
Special counsel John Durham, who was appointed by Trump Attorney General Bill Barr to investigate the origins of the Russia probe, ended his three-year investigation after failing to convict yet another frequent target of former President Donald Trump.

Igor Danchenko, a think tank analyst who provided much of the research for the infamous Christopher Steele dossier, was acquitted Tuesday on charges of lying to the FBI about where he got his information.

The defeat marked likely the final blow of his investigation, though Durham is expected to submit a report to the Justice Department later this year.

Durham was appointed in 2019 by Barr. His first two cases ended in an acquittal and a guilty plea with a sentence of probation.

After nine hours of deliberations for over two days, the jury reached its verdict on Tuesday. Despite Trump and his supporters' claims that the Durham inquiry would reveal a "deep state" conspiracy against him, the three-year investigation failed to produce evidence of such a conspiracy.

"While we are disappointed in the outcome, we respect the jury's decision and thank them for their service," Durham said in a statement. "I also want to recognize and thank the investigators and the prosecution team for their dedicated efforts in seeking truth and justice in this case."

So far, no one charged by Durham has ended up in prison and only one government employee has pleaded guilty to a criminal offense, according to the Washington Post.

Legal experts mocked the legacy of Trump's failed Durham probe and called out his record in court.

"Wow. Don't think any other special counsel or independent prosecutor has ever posted such a dismal record," tweeted former U.S. Attorney Harry Litman.

Neal Katyal, a former Acting Solicitor General, added that "Durham wins about as much as every other Trump lawyer."

Former federal prosecutor Renato Mariotti also took a jab at the special counsel's career, adding that "Many federal prosecutors have lost fewer trials in their entire career than John Durham lost in the past year alone."

"It is apparent that his judgment is poor and that he overcharged these cases. His use of the legally meaningless 'no collusion' phrase at trial betrays his bias," he wrote.

"Along the lines of the late Sec. Raymond Donovan's famous question— 'Which office do I go to to get my reputation back?'—I'd like to ask, where do we taxpayers go to get our money back for Durham's frivolous, ridiculous, and politically motivated frolic and detour?" tweeted conservative attorney George Conway.

Others, like former U.S. Attorney Joyce Vance White, described the Durham investigation as a "complete bust".

It is "an abject lesson in what happens when the Justice Department is weaponized to do a president's political bidding. It will be held up to generations of prosecutors as a cautionary tale about what not to do," Vance wrote.

CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin called the investigation a "disgrace" and a "fiasco".

"Two acquittals at trial in a system where the feds win 95% of their cases. Trump and Barr said Durham would prove the Russia investigation unjustified. He's proven the opposite," he tweeted.

National security attorney Bradley Moss recalled right-wing claims that the "Durham probe was going to indict half the Beltway and send all kinds of evil Trump haters to jail." But, Moss wrote, "Durham couldn't convict a ham sandwich."

Maddow Blog | John Durham’s failed investigation comes with a hefty price tag

Quote:

Special counsel John Durham’s investigation proved to be a rather embarrassing failure. As The Washington Post reported, it also proved to be quite expensive.

In other words, the $6.5 million figure — in taxpayer money — is where things stand now. It’s difficult to say with confidence how much higher the final price tag will eventually end up.

For those who might benefit from a refresher — you’d be forgiven for thinking, “John Durham’s name sounds familiar, but I can’t remember why I’m supposed to care about him” — let’s revisit our earlier coverage and explain how we arrived at this point.

The original investigation into Donald Trump’s Russia scandal, led by then-Special Counsel Robert Mueller, led to a series of striking findings: The former president’s political operation in 2016 sought, embraced, capitalized on, and lied about Russian assistance — and then took steps to obstruct the investigation into the foreign interference.

The Trump White House wasn’t pleased with the conclusions, but the Justice Department’s inspector general conducted a lengthy probe of the Mueller investigation, and not surprisingly, the IG’s office found nothing improper.

This, of course, only outraged Trump further, so then-Attorney General Bill Barr tapped a federal prosecutor — U.S. Attorney John Durham — to conduct his own investigation into the investigation. That was more than three years ago.

At this point, Durham’s investigation into the Russia scandal investigation has lasted longer than Mueller’s original probe of the Russia scandal.

After an extended period of apparent inactivity, the prosecutor last year indicted cybersecurity attorney Michael Sussmann for allegedly having lied to the FBI. The case proved to be baseless; Sussmann was acquitted; and one of the jurors publicly mocked Durham’s team for having taken the case to trial.

Five months later, Durham and his team also tried to prosecute Russian analyst Igor Danchenko. That failed too, bringing the probe to an apparent, ignominious end.

The tale of the tape is brutal:

Two trials
Zero convictions
One provocative resignation
A largely meaningless guilty plea from an obscure figure
A $6.5 million price tag
By any fair measure, this is the most misguided and inconsequential special counsel investigation in the modern history of American law enforcement.

But the humiliation is not limited to the prosecutor. Every once in a while, Trump still blurts out Durham’s name, hoping the prosecutor might yet bolster some of the former president’s conspiracy theories. As regular readers may recall, the Republican — who predicted that Durham would uncover “the crime of the century” — has even suggested at times that Durham’s probe could serve as a possible vehicle for retaliating against his perceived enemies.

So much for that idea.

Over the summer, The New York Times’ Charlie Savage wrote a report questioning why the Durham investigation existed. He added, “Mr. Barr’s mandate to Mr. Durham appears to have been to investigate a series of conspiracy theories.”

Those theories, however, lacked merit, which is why the Durham probe is ending with an expensive whimper.

There is a degree of irony to the circumstances: For years, Team Trump insisted that the Russia scandal was pointless but the Durham investigation was real. It now appears these Republicans had it exactly backward: The Russia scandal was real, and the Durham investigation was pointless.

And it's not over yet. The incoming repugnant plan is for endless “investigations” in the House. Expect many millions of our taxes to be wasted on investigations of President Biden, Hunter Biden, Dr. Fauci, and more. Once again these investigations will please their base, but lead to nothing notable.

Maybe someone can pull a few quotes from paranoid Bard, as he wet his panties in anticipation of all the liberals going to jail due to Durham.

Like Isobars, marmalade, and gybe, never admits he was wrong. Too sad.
