Are dim bulbs infrastructure as well?

Folks in Nashville can't get gas today....You think we need some upgrades to our infrastructure?

Boggsy, We already have a pipeline; we need more. Yet the Administration that bowed to environmental lobbyists and cancelled the XL Pipeline, now says that "Pipe is the best way to go" (Granholm yesterday). They are discovering the inconvenient truth that what is popular with their uniformed base, and what actually works, are two entirely different things. Paid leave, childcare, caregiving are not infrastructure.

I'm ready. But I don't think cherry picking a dopey tweet from a politician a month ago is the way us adults would start that conversation. I would liken that to farting in church, then escaping out the side door.

According to CNN, here is what is in Biden's proposal. https://www.cnn.com/2021/03/31/politics/infrastructure-proposal-biden-explainer/index.html

Transportation $621 billion
Home Care services $400 billion
Manufacturing $300 billion
Housing $213 billion
Research and development $180 billion
Water $111 billion
Schools $100 billion
Digital infrastructure $100 billion
Workforce Development $100 billion
Vets hospitals and govt. bldgs. $18 billion

I could appreciate adult arguments that home care services and workforce development are not traditionally what we think of as infrastructure. The rest of these categories are funded by state and local governments with bonds because they are long-lived and confer substantial economic benefits for a long time.

I would certainly think that a Republican leadership that came to the table with a willingness to contribute more than 10 votes to a consensus group of categories could influence the eventual bill far more than snarky comments about Kirsten Gillibrand. But perhaps that is how some people start an "adult" conversation.

Crack in Hernando DeSoto bridge across the Mississippi River has the potential for catastrophic failure. Let’s talk about Kirsten’s tweet.

Please remind me of what the Republicans have done in the last 20 years to enact what they think should be in an infrastructure bill? Do you think this is the only bridge about to fail?
