I know that Bird Island is a big Spring time sailing destination. But I've heard and read that there was some corrosion control done that really messed up the launch. Can others confirm this? Photos?

I was just there today and saw that they placed small rocks along the shore for erosion control. I saw one sailor walk right over it so no big deal. There are no rocks for a stretch closer to the shop where the pelapas are. The rocks aren't much higher than the beach, so don't think they built a wall-they didn't.

I've heard that those rocks were big enough to turn your ankle on. Not true?

Also, is there enough room for a lot of people to leave their gear on the shore where the non-rocky part is, or will you have to now get your gear out of the way when on shore, to allow others to get access to the sandy entry?

The rocks are about three feet wide along the edge of the water. The beach is unchanged from before. This is a non-issue.

They added rocks in front of the camping area. Some still have barnacles leading to minor cuts and scrapes.

Launch area in front of day use. Water is currently at 77 degrees.

Plenty of room for gear.
