|
|
Closing time at Coyote Point remains at 5PM for at least a few weeks. Even though normally the park would stay open until 6PM starting MAR 01, and then go to 7PM with the start of Daylight Saving Time, and then 8PM on APR 01, for the next few weeks the closing time will remain at 5PM.
I spoke with the San Mateo County Parks Superintendent to learn why, and he told me that during the Covid-19 pandemic, they have had a hiring freeze in effect so they haven't been able to hire the 20 or so seasonal employees they would normally hire.
The hiring freeze has just been lifted and they are working to bring on additional staff as quickly as possible. As soon as they do, they will be able to stay open later into the evening. Most likely it is still 3 or 4 weeks away. I know this sucks for those wanting to sail after work, but hang in there and we'll all be sailing off into the sunset again soon.

Wow! Parks opened/closed by the clock? I've never encountered that since I last sailed at O'Neill Forebay. Jeez ... what will they think of next (besides charging people $76 to eat their own GD sammich)?

Can we please get off your 20+ year old beef about not being allowed to eat a sandwich? We all know you hate CA, which is why you left.

I never lived there. My opinion of CA is based in part on how I, as an ignorant and innocent guest, was treated when passing through. IMO, the sammich reference from the late (mid?) '80s is meant to be funny by now.
