Thankfully, a Suburban ride from Dallas to Steamboat, Copper, or Breckinridge is easier than a flight to Reno....

Mrgybe. The Colorado Board of Tourism shares my concerns with Abbott's latest political move. We know about Texans. You don't appear to.

Yep.

Covid did cause an increase in Suburban travel from Texas during the summer that was unexpected. We don't know what will happen next week but we have reason to believe we will see a surge of CV cases. Hopefully, they take the disease home with them and don't overtax our health care system.

Fortunately, Boggsman, most of these Texas skiers stay off of the upper slopes at Telluride and are unskilled for Silverton Mountain. Durango is rough though. But, I can stay away for a week. The problem is what will happen to the local restaurant workers. I know of a couple of eating establishments that are closing for spring break. They recognize the very "UnTexan" attitude of maintaining a long term sustainability vs a short term profit.

Seems like Crested Butte would be too tough for the flat- landers as well.

You, obviously, have no clue how Texans behave when they visit Colorado en masse.

Yes I do. You told me. They came en masse in the summer and obeyed the rules. Your anti-Texan attitude is similar to a small faction on the OBX who whine about the tourists, have "OBX Local" stickers on their vehicles and can't seem to grasp that the tourists provide their livelihood directly or indirectly. Stereotyping is rarely helpful.

I think lifting the mask mandate is a bad idea.

For many years, my family owned a house in Pagosa Springs, probably the nearest ski area in Colorado to Texas. It seemed there was always someone wearing a cowboy hat and shorts, no matter the weather. I'm sure it was for bragging rights ("Yall, I was skiing in my shorts!"). The other phenomenon was the trail of brown tobacco spit under the lifts.

Boggsman. CB skis like two different areas. There are the back bowls which are pretty extreme. Then there is the front side with lots of mellow runs. The back bowls are served by T-bars. But, to get out of them, one must ride lifts that serve all sorts of terrain.
