Anyone have any recommendations on good/safe winter North wind sites? Or can point me to info elsewhere. Looking to try to go out Monday or Tuesday.

Crissy, onshore and choppy.
Berkeley, offshore, flat, very gusty.
Ashby and frontage road, choppy sideshore.
Pt Isabelle, side off, gusty.
Rod n Gun, onshore side, steadiest, weakest on ne, usually less than 20.

Crissy can be good on a north wind but depending on the crowd, it can be congested. The wind is often very up and down as well.

Every time I've tried to sail a north wind in the Bay or Rio Vista, it's always backed off abruptly and left me shlogging home on a sail I couldn't get upwind on. If you try, go early. Your best bet would be to go on a northwest (not north) wind at Rod and Gun. The R&G sensor is down but the Larkspur and Corte Madera sensors can be used. 14 NW or better at Larkspur and 18 or better at CM are a good indication for Rod to be 20 or more in the channel.

where do you sail the NE at Bodega? Inside the bay or ocean side at Doran?

Hey gang!

We lost permission for our Rod & Gun location. As such, we could not repair it. Happily, though, we submitted requests to the USCG for permissions for an aid to navigation in San Rafael Bay. These requests take time to receive approval, so we appreciate your patience in the interim. Once approval is received, we will act as quickly as possible to install the new weather station. Thanks! -Ben

Bummer about R&G location.
Bodega is super gusty on NNE, not worth driving to, as wind comes off the big mountains.
If it comes W of Concord, stay local is the call. Berk, Isa, Frontage Road, Toll Plaza, TI, Crissy.
