The Rod and Gun sensor in San Rafael CA has been down for months. It was pretty useless anyway since its location was probably affected by large surrounding buildings. It would be nice if it could be relocated closer to or on the water and soon since the spring winds can kick in as early as late January. I'm hoping someone from Iwindsurf will respond to this post with the latest information on the maintenance of the sensor. Does anyone else care about this?

I'd love to see an accurate sensor at Rod and Gun. I moved to San Rafael a few months ago, and this is now my local spot. It would be great to get a sense of what is happening on the water in San Rafael Bay, around Point San Pedro and at China Camp.

Just adding my support as a long time iWindsurf subscriber to getting a new sensor for the Rod and Gun location. I am happy to get a boat ride arranged from the guys at 101 surf sports in San Rafael if that would help!

Cheers,

Marc LaRhette

Yeah, would be nice to get that sensor working.
Springtime spot, it's use is coming soon.
We normally sail there on any strong NE wind.

The Truth is that a sensor that actually gives you the right wind would need to be placed by San Rafael.
The old sensor was not very useful.

Sailed R&G this week. It had been a while. With the sensor down, I tend to forget about the place and not feel the urge to go even check it out.

Nice after-work session on 4.2, with 3-4 windsurfers packing up, and an equal number of wingers.

Similar experience at Larkspur last week-end : 5-6 windsurfers, maybe a dozen wingers.

It's cool to have a bit more company at our homespots.
