Board sailing search and rescues, mostly kiteboarding a few windsurfing and several winging.
SAR cases are tracked using a Fiscal Year vice Calendar Year cycle, i.e. October 1st - End of September)
2019 there was 66
2020 there was 77
2021 there has been 5.

We can do better with our judgment, talking to newbies and maintaining our gear better.

This is for the greater San Francisco Bay Area.

How can there be 5 rescues already in 2021?

Are they taking reservations?

I would be curious about the locations where these rescues are occuring any info? Crissy seems an inherently dangerous spot., big currents, ship traffic and the fact the wind usually dies on the SF side first.

Don't misunderestimate the power of stupid people/kitesurfers in groups.
