I was not a case for me (at least with Toyota Camry 2009). To avoid the board vibration on a highway I tighten it so no rubbing was possible.

If you're seeking a long-term solution, find the previous discussions here on DIY roof racks and let your imagination run freely. Four hard spots (roof reinforcements), a drill, some nuts and bolts, assorted hardware, rattlecan paint to match your Prius, waterproofing, and the rest is seat of the pants.. My new 1980s Datsun 280Z probably had less roof space than you do, and I carried several long and short boards plus sails ands masts on it in complete confidence in triple-digit relative wind speeds for many thousands of miles. No welding, no exotic parts, double-digit cost, nothing but two off-the-shelf roof rack clamps touching the roof, and no impact on single passenger space or opening doors or tailgate. When I cared about MPG or appearance, it took <3 minutes and no tools to remove the entire rack and <5 minutes and no tools to reinstall.

Silly me. I thought the OP wanted to haul boards on top and thought that contraption was his only hope short of drilling holes in the roof ... which also works fine.

This is the cleanest way to have racks on your top. Same as OEM installation. Instructions are on page link. I don't think the guy mentioned the brand of the mile high racks. https://www.thule.com/en-us/roof-rack/roof-racks-and-accessories/thule-top-tracks-42-_-6238999
What were they called?? Dog Bones? Blue foam things you put on your roof to strap your board and pile of crap on? Open the doors strap er up slam the doors and off you went??
