SWC, they are holding the wing in new positions now other than overhead. Behind the back for straight downwind and one tip up and one tip down just like a WS sail. Never seen things change so fast in one year! Shocked

Saw what looked like a teenager yesterday repeatedly jumping his winged foil about 20 feet up and landing most of them....looks like the new derivative of surfing, windsurfing, kiting, foiling

The problem with the wind weapon is that it didn't fly worth a damn. Here was this equipment that sailed poorly but was designed to fly like a bird when you jumped which was the big payoff. Only it didn't fly like a bird. We were jumping twice as high with conventional gear and landing. The wind weapon either landed awkwardly or exploded on landing, or exploded in the air!

It turns out he needed to get rid of the connection between the wing and the board. Who knew?

I guess he also needed to add a foil. The foil plus the wing is the ticket.

The progress made with foils and the wing things over the past 5 years is just amazing. Gear heads rock!

Some of the advanced wing foilers are using a harness for ripping upwind.

So you folks are talking about folks using boards, foils and hand held wings. In my earlier post, I didn't recognize that. I thought, without some form of power to drive you, it's impossible to move upwind. I missed the idea of hand held wings. They must be getting quite popular.

Regarding any negativity, it wasn't on my mind.
