What's a order of magnitude cost to replace a sail panel these days ? I put my board thru my beloved 5.4 Taka a few weeks back. I got lucky and found a used 5.3 Taka for just over $200 so bought it days later. So I'm now sitting on the broken sail wondering if it's worth repair. Seems like adding shipping both ways would make it hard to be cost effective.

All a great help thanks!...
JP: for me some the cost offset would be reecycling
Would rather pay to keep a skill set aive, and keep one out of the dumpster
(Only one, my addiction has burned thru some serious carbon footprint)
My guess is that shipping would be more than the repair _________________ https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=2&v=zw0MgkO7VXw |

Cost to replace a sail panel will depend on whether new material is required. If yes, cost should be around $75. If the old panel is still OK, for example if just the stitching failed. cost might only be $25.
In any case a sail should be thoroughly rinsed in fresh water before bringing it to anyone for repair. A sandy sail can damage a sewing machine. Quantum Sails will reject your sail if it is full of sand. |

Will ask Nina first. If the sail could be fixed for 100$ or less it would definitely be worth it. It's a sail that's maybe at the midpoint of life. JP |

So, it sounds like the price for a panel to be replaced with new material is around $75. Is that correct? Is that the price charged by a sail loft like Quantum in Newport or by Wind Angel in Buxton? |

That's probably a reasonable estimate. The panel I had replaced by Wind Angel was an x-ply panel out along the leech of the sail and the cost was about $50. It was roughly 4 square feet in size in a 6.5. |

I had good repair service in the past from Haarstick Sails NE, N Kingstown RI. (Seems like main location was Rochester NY, that's now Quantum Sails). |
