Jackie was definitely alive 20 years ago. I was working in Malaysia then and have yet met Jackie.

As for the water quality of the stick, believe it or not, it used to be better than many popular swimming beaches in California before all these RV's showed up. If you are concern, the Swim Guide takes sample of the water on a regular basis. Check out this site before you go.

https://www.theswimguide.org/beach/1655

Meets water quality standards This status is based on the latest sample, taken on May 7th, 2020. The Swim Guide updates the status of this beach as soon as test results become available. These results were posted to Swim Guide on May 11th, 2020 at 10:12 AM.

Maybe a direct result of the RVers dumping there
shit in the water.

The open garbage along the fence is real bad this year and this isn't just ordinary litter. Long gone are the days when all you had to do was to tiptoe around the used condoms and needles – this is something else.

I remember one year taking part in a beach cleanup at the Stick. The cleanup group must have filled eight garbage bags. We were wrapping it up, when I looked over and there was a guy chucking his empty beer bottles on the rocks from his car. And there was a garbage container not two feet from his car door.

Open garbage attracts rodents and disease.

I recall when a dead dog was found in a garbage bag on the beach at the stick.

I yelled at a woman a couple of years ago who brought a bag of empty liquor bottles to the launch and then started pitching them into the water. She just looked at me with a vacant stare.

In the long run as a species, we're probably doomed.
