Straps are easy in 8 mph breeze with some pumping.
Straps are impossible slogging in 5 mph breeze.
Straps are advisable in 6+ breeze once up on foil...but, if breeze goes to 5, you gotta be ready to pump hard and/or anticipate jumping out of straps. |

Domond, you need to try my big wing, thick tail setup, so you can see whether or not it opens up the light wind magic foiling for you.
when i first started foiling on the pink NP and the Fanatic Flow H9, I thought it was amusing but not game changing fun. The Slingshot H2 (Gamma 6, was a huge difference, but getting on the Infinity 76 & 84 completely changed the light wind equation for me.
You weigh considerably less than I do, so YMMV, but I've put my girlfriend on my setup and she flew on the first run, and everybody I've sold this type of setup to has gotten addicted to foiling... well, there may be one exception actually, but the adoption rate has been really high.
Of course it's possible you just don't like foiling all that much, which is fine, but you need to try some other stuff, too.
Personally, I think Berkeley is fantastic spot to foil provided there is enough water.
Davide also needs to try my setup. _________________ Kevin Kan

I figure, if the wind stays in the 10-16 range, I'm right there.
Foil jibes will come soon, as my planing jibes are 90% with foiling parts no problem.
I hate 3-22 mph winds! That is early spring Berkeley.
G/f's RRD setup is faster and more stable...close enough.
A week from 71 makes the learning curve take longer.
Of the app. 60 days I've foiled, easy 45 are less than 20 minutes and maybe 10 are over an hour. Lots of days, very little time on water. |
