Novaan:

Thanks for posting about this. I windsurf with a single bolt tendon UJ, but use the mechanical for the foil board for easier coupling/uncoupling. I am not sure why this topic got off point, but if you have a recent Chinook mechanical UJ check those threaded ends. I initially did not, but mine were very easy to unthread when recently checked. Potential disaster averted with some red Loctite hopefully.

Glad I saved you a potential swim or a lost rig.

My two have slight friction, so easy to tell if they get looser.

Just noticed these from Chinook and looks like a neat blend of tendon and mechanical joint:

Looks well done possibly extend life of tendon too.
Need to see what kind of wobble develops between top part and black plastic piece.

Hopefully they will sell just the top piece, last thing I need is another complete base.

That top black plastic piece is suspect. I’ve not been happy with some of Chinook’s switch to plastic over the years, eg boom pins, extension pins, boom collar material. Function has always been good.

Often true, however in this case I'm willing to risk it. That looks like a great design, and if there were a problem discovered I'm confident Chinook will take care of it.
