Not one single mention last night during the circular firing squad about how to improve the economy, can't imagine why, while we are looking at 8 straight days of an up market, heading into record territory.
One of the best ways to reduce the deficit, is to grow your way out of it.
Patience grasshoppers.

Not true...again, you raise falsehoods. We grew at 3% last year and added almost a TRIL of new debt. This year we'll grow at 1.8% and add ANOTHER TRIL ... why , you ask? because spending is growing 5-6% annually.

The US budget deficit widened to $1.067 trillion for the first 11 months of the fiscal year, an increase of 19% over this time last year, the Treasury Department reported Thursday.

The current shortfall exceeds the full-year deficit for fiscal 2018, which was $898 billion.
President Donald Trump, who promised during the 2016 campaign to eliminate the federal debt, has instead overseen a dramatic increase in deficits.

The largest , and fastest growing component of the deficit is : interest expense! This is at record low interest rates...but the bond market is starting to take notice. Look, I LOVE higher stock prices, but its costing us A TRILLION dollars a year.....oh well, I guess the minions will foot the bill ....

Boggs,

What do you think will happen to the debt if any of the Democrat big three beat Trump?

Yeah it's pretty funny in light of the dem debates where they try to outspend the others.

Students will want to get overpriced student loans if they think they will be forgiven. The line forms on the left.
Students and the uniformed will want to get Medicare if they think doctor's and medical procedures will be free, with no wait times.
Students and the uninformed will want open borders, if they think the illegals won't effect our national debt.
Students and the uninformed will want to offer free Medicare to illegals if they think it won't cost them a dime.
Students and the uninformed will want a living wage as a minimum wage, so that they can drop out of college, not having to worry about any default on their student loan (it's forgiven). And especially in light of the living wage being a minimum wage so that they can start a family as being a hamburger flipper.
Yeah, could this be a wonderful country or what!?
None of that will have any effect on the deficit, nope, not one bit.

His teeth are falling out and he can't remember what he said 2 minutes ago. Tulsi would destroy Trump, but she's the only one.

Not sure about destroying Trump, but I do agree that she's easily the best candidate the dems have, but for some reason, they don't see it, or don't want to see it. Maybe it's because she's not offering a shit load of 'free' stuff.

From the let's make shit up to trash Democrats world of the tin foil hat brigade. I guess tax cuts, that in the tin foil hat world don't enrich the ultra rich and double the national debt don't matter. All that matters is blaming immigrants. Straight out of the 19th Century.
Know-Nothing party, byname of American Party, U.S. political party that flourished in the 1850s. The Know-Nothing party was an outgrowth of the strong anti-immigrant and especially anti-Roman Catholic sentiment that started to manifest itself during the 1840s. A rising tide of immigrants, primarily Germans in the Midwest and Irish in the East, seemed to pose a threat to the economic and political security of native-born Protestant Americans. In 1849 the secret Order of the Star-Spangled Banner formed in New York City, and soon after lodges formed in nearly every other major American city.

Members, when asked about their nativist organizations, were supposed to reply that they knew nothing, hence the name. As its membership and importance grew in the 1850s, the group slowly shed its clandestine character and took the official name American Party. As a national political entity, it called for restrictions on immigration, the exclusion of the foreign-born from voting or holding public office in the United States, and for a 21-year residency requirement for citizenship.

By 1852 the Know-Nothing party was achieving phenomenal growth. It did very well that year in state and local elections, and with passage of the Kansas-Nebraska Act in 1854 it won additional adherents from the ranks of conservatives who could support neither the proslavery Democrats nor antislavery Republicans. When Congress assembled on Dec. 3, 1855, 43 representatives were avowed members of the Know-Nothing party.

That, however, was the peak of Know-Nothing power. At the American Party convention in Philadelphia the following year, the party split along sectional lines over the proslavery platform pushed through by Southern delegates. Party presidential candidate Millard Fillmore carried just one state (Maryland) in the 1856 election, and congressional strength dropped to 12 representatives.

And, of course, the snarky comments about student debt, which don't actually make any constructive comments, and ignore the fact that many of the Trump appointees make money on predatory loans.

The Grand Hypocrite Party.

376 Steelworkers Just Got Tired of Winning

Quote:
Bayou Steel announced this morning that it is shutting its La Place, Louisiana mill, leaving 376 actual American steelworkers abruptly unemployed with no explanation.

There is an explanation, of course, though you won’t hear it from the firm’s private equity owners, Connecticut-based Black Diamond Capital Management. The Times-Picayune-Advocate-Whatever credits Gov. Edwards in it’s headline, but everyone quoted in the piece blamed one thing: the president’s trade war.

Peter Ricchiuti, business professor at Tulane University's Freeman School of Business, explains why the La Place mill’s closing bodes I’ll for American steel:

"I am really surprised because it was a 'mini mill' and they are so much more efficient than other mills," Ricchiuti said, explaining that they take in old cars, refrigerators and the like, melt them down and turn the metal into "long products." Also, he said, because the plant was on the Mississippi River, it was able to receive scrap metal from cheap sources, like the Caribbean, in the most cost-effective way.“

“I think the tariffs just killed them," he said. "And if they threw in the towel, there have to be a lot of traditional steel mills out there where they're thinking the same thing in the executive boardrooms."

The plant’s workers were given no notice of the closing, nor were state and parish officials. The state’s Workforce Commission scrambled its mobile Job Center to La Place to help the displaced workers figure out what to do next.
