this is a short clip and very good, here Barr admits he did not even know some of Stones statements regarding protecting trump... ie keeping his silence to protect Trumps criminal activities.

Barr, confronted on Roger Stone commutation, offers pallid answer

Attorney General Bill Barr before the House Judiciary Committee managed only a tepid response to being challenged by Rep. Eric Swalwell to reconcile his answer at his confirmation hearing that a president using pardon power to buy a witness's silence would be against the law with his reaction to Donald Trump commuting the sentence of Roger Stone.

here is another one a bit longer

There he goes again, inventing a story about election fraud in Texas. Only the crudest liars, willing to swallow peanuts directly out of Trump’s ass, can work in this administration.

James Clyburn Says William Barr's Remark Comparing COVID Lockdowns to Slavery Most 'God Awful Thing' He Ever Heard

Quote:
House Majority Whip Representative James Clyburn, a South Carolina Democrat, condemned remarks made by Attorney General William Barr comparing COVID-19 lockdowns to slavery, saying that it was "tone deaf" and a "God awful thing" to say.

Speaking during an event at Hillsdale College in Michigan on Wednesday, Barr criticized lockdown measures that were implemented across the country to curb the spread of the new coronavirus pandemic earlier this year.

"You know, putting a national lockdown, stay-at-home orders, is like house arrest. Other than slavery, which was a different kind of restraint, this is the greatest intrusion on civil liberties in American history," the attorney general said.

Clyburn responded to the attorney general's remarks in a Thursday morning interview with CNN.

"I think that that statement by Mr. Barr was the most ridiculous, tone deaf, God awful thing I ever heard," Clyburn said. "It is incredible that the chief law enforcement officer in this country would equate human bondage to expert advice to save lives," the congressman continued. "Slavery was not about saving lives, it was about devaluing lives."

Barr’s comment is absurd as well as insensitive. We have required people to serve in the military, where many were killed, in World Wars I and II, and the Vietnam and Korean Wars. We controlled everything they did, at a level of behavioral control that makes wearing a mask and not attending mass gatherings look like paying more for tea.

I guess Barr forgot about the Japanese internment camps. Certainly those who were locked up for "national interests" lost just a wee bit of their civil liberties.

Barr is Trump's new Michael Cohen. A "fixer". The difference is we pay his salary and he has more power at his disposal.

Trump Justice Department Sought to Block Search of Giuliani Records

In the final months of the Trump administration, senior Justice Department officials repeatedly sought to block federal prosecutors in Manhattan from taking a crucial step in their investigation into Rudolph W. Giuliani’s dealings in Ukraine, delaying a search warrant for some of Mr. Giuliani’s electronic records, according to people with knowledge of the matter.

Giuliani’s electronic records.© Erin Schaff/The New York Times Federal prosecutors in Manhattan sought a search warrant in a move to obtain some of Rudolph W. Giuliani’s electronic records.
The actions by political appointees at the Justice Department in Washington effectively slowed the investigation as it was gaining momentum last year.

In the final months of 2020, the prosecutors were still delving into whether Mr. Giuliani had illegally lobbied the Trump administration on behalf of Ukrainian officials and oligarchs who had helped him look for dirt in 2019 on Joseph R. Biden Jr., then a leading Democratic candidate, the people said.

Mr. Giuliani has denied any wrongdoing. His lawyer, Robert J. Costello, declined on Wednesday to comment “on media speculation.”

Unflinchingly loyal to former President Donald J. Trump, Mr. Giuliani has been a central figure in both of the former president’s impeachments, first working on Mr. Trump’s behalf in Ukraine and then spearheading a drive to overturn the election results that culminated in the Jan. 6 rally shortly before Trump supporters violently stormed the Capitol.

Last summer, prosecutors and F.B.I. agents in Manhattan were preparing to seek the search warrant for Mr. Giuliani’s records related to his efforts in Ukraine, said the people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the ongoing investigation.

But first, the investigators in Manhattan had to notify Justice Department officials in Washington, who must be consulted about search warrants involving lawyers because of concerns that prosecutors might inadvertently obtain confidential communications with clients. The warrant involving Mr. Giuliani was particularly sensitive because of his most prominent client — Mr. Trump.

While career Justice Department officials in Washington largely supported the search warrant, senior officials raised concerns that the warrant would be issued too close to the election, the people with knowledge of the matter said.

In the 60 days before an election, the Justice Department generally tries to avoid taking aggressive investigative actions that could affect the outcome of the vote if the actions were to become public.

The Manhattan prosecutors noted to officials in Washington that they initially raised the idea in the summer, before the 60-day cutoff, the people said. And after the election, the prosecutors tried again.

But even then, political appointees in Mr. Trump’s Justice Department, including officials in the deputy attorney general’s office at the time, did not approve, noting Mr. Trump was still contesting the election results in several states — a legal effort being led by Mr. Giuliani, the people said.

The Department of Justice has dropped its lawsuit against Melania Trump's ex-White House aide and friend Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, who last year published an intimate and scabrous memoir about the former first lady.

A department official tells PEOPLE that they "evaluated the case and concluded that dismissal without prejudice was in the best interests of the United States based on the facts and the law."

The decision comes after a changeover in administrations and alongside news that President Joe Biden's White House has asked for the resignations of nearly all Justice Department attorneys who were appointed under former President Donald Trump.

Wolkoff, 50, had been sued by the DOJ in October — less than a month before President Trump, 74, lost to Biden, 78.

At the time, the DOJ alleged that Wolkoff's Melania and Me had broken a nondisclosure agreement she had signed with the Trump administration.

In a statement to PEOPLE, Wolkoff praised the decision to drop the suit and lambasted the way, she said, the Trumps had harangued her.

"I believe my story is one of moral resilience in the face of adversity, intimidation and emotional duress. The Trumps weaponized the Department of Justice against me in an effort to keep me muzzled from speaking the truth after they intentionally framed, falsely accused and criminally tied me to many investigations," she said.

Wolkoff, who was formerly a high-profile events planner in New York City, was ousted from the White House in 2018 in what she called being "thrown under the bus" in connection with the bamboozling cost of the Trump inauguration.

She subsequently cooperated with investigations into its cost. Trump officials said they did nothing wrong.

In her statement this week, she said "the recent DOJ's ruling for the order of dismissal is vindication for me from the vicious personal attacks on my character and reckless self-serving abuse of power directed toward me from former President Trump [and] Melania Trump on down."

"No one is above the law," Wolkoff continued, "and thankfully in the Biden administration, people are being held accountable for their misdeeds, and those courageous enough to speak truth to power aren't being thrown into the lion's den."

Representative Ted Lieu has condemned former Attorney General Bill Barr who faces claims that the Justice Department he used to head provided misleading advice over whether to charge ex-President Donald Trump with obstruction of justice.

Federal Judge Amy Berman Jackson ordered the Justice Department to turn over a memo from March 2019 that Barr had cited as the reason for not charging Trump following the investigation by former special counsel Robert Mueller into claims of Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. election.

Jackson accused the Justice Department of a pattern of obfuscation about the investigation and has ordered the memo's release within two weeks, saying that it should be in the public domain.

Some thoughts this new ruling brings to mind:

1. History will not be kind to Bill Barr

2. The former President engaged in obstruction of justice

3. The Mueller team chickened out

4. Congress needs to see the full unredacted Mueller report

5. Don McGahn still needs to testify https://t.co/9fkG0ILgkI

— Ted Lieu (@tedlieu) May 5, 2021
The department had argued that the memo should not be made public citing attorney-client privilege and deliberative government decision making. It said it consisted of private legal advice that Barr had needed to assess whether to prosecute Trump.

But in a strongly worded ruling, Jackson rejected the department's claims as not chiming with her review of the memo.

She said that "not only was the Attorney General being disingenuous then" referring to Barr, but the department "has been disingenuous to this Court with respect to the existence of a decision-making process that should be shielded by the deliberative process privilege."

Jackson criticized the agency's "redactions and incomplete explanations" which in her view "obfuscate the true purpose of the memorandum."

In a tweet on Tuesday, Rep. Lieu criticized the circumstances surrounding the Mueller investigation.

"Some thoughts this new ruling brings to mind," he wrote, "history will not be kind to Bill Barr."

Listing bullet points, the Democratic congressman from California, wrote that the "former President engaged in obstruction of justice."

"The Mueller team chickened out," he added, "Congress needs to see the full unredacted Mueller report."

He finished his tweet, writing "Don McGahan still needs to testify," referring to the former White House counsel who according to Mueller's report, said he had been ordered to fire Mueller in 2017.

Mueller's final report was released in April 2019 and cited 11 possible instances of obstruction by Trump, but Barr said he would not make a "traditional prosecutorial judgement."

The ruling by Jackson, who was appointed to the federal district court in Washington, D.C. under former President Barack Obama, can be appealed by the Justice Department. Her decision follows a lawsuit filed by the group Citizens for Ethics and Responsibility in Washington (CREW).

Jackson's criticism is not the first time Barr has faced legal questions about the Mueller report. Last year, District Judge Reggie Walton said that Barr's early comments about the report did not fit its conclusions.
