Arrived at 12:30
Tony Cox out on a 5.8 he likes to be powered.
Sunny and very windy but not warm not freezing either.
I debate between a 5.3 and 4.7 and decided on the 4.7.
That was a good call I stayed on it all afternoon.
Best wind I have had so far this year pretty even wiind
and the gusts were just enough to add a tittle strategic speed.
Threatened to build past the 4.7 a few times then settled back
down. Two more showed up later in the afternoon.
If you believe the charts it should do the same thing tommrow.
Also fog or low clouds all the way from SC to the West side of
the big Res.
A few of the wind mills on the Hills are going again.
They have been shut down for a couple of years now.
By the way I suppose everybody knows the iwindsurf sensor
does not indicate the true direction it was West to Southwest
all day on the water. Zoom in an use the 152 sensor for true wind
direction. |

No weeds yet. I was using a huge pointer fin with no problems at all. I know it won't last but it was fun blasting around with the coast shut down. |

The weeds never get very bad now as they spray
for them. Also its early never use to get bad till mid
June. |

And the wind speed where you sail is almost always closer to the gust than the average at the sensor. |

Gusty and south west with a few holes
Pretty good turnout today with 5 or 6 on the North Side.
Rigged a 4.7 and stayed on it . It was plenty for the Gust
and but wobbly in the holes. |

Seems like a repeat of my last post today.
Gusty but not klller gusts most of the time.
Raining in Aptos and mist as far as Dunnvlle.
Rigged a 4.7 and is was enough at first then sort
of backed off and goT Holy . Went to a 5.3 but there
was no comfort zone.
Two from the South Bay then one more from Santa
Cruz later . Two on the South Side Dave and I don't know
who.
152 Sensor down you can still use the few surrounding sensors
to find the true wind direction .
The Live Wind button on the new iwindsurf website gives you flow
area's for the whole region and you can choose which models to
use to . Seems like a great alternative.
The best thing would for iwindsurf to move the Sensor to a location
where it reads the true wind condition coming over Pacheco Pass.
I have petitioned for this in the past but i windsurf seems unresponsive.

I was pretty good on the 4.6 and 82l board. Except 5:45-6:45, when it did the San Luis send everyone home evening wind. All the holes went away and it was solid overpowered 4.0 (which was pretty sketchy on the 4.6.) The water was a little lower than the last few times I sailed there- not dangerous low, but finished off a few tacks & gybes with my board planted in the mud. |

San Luis 5/30/2019
arrived as 12:30 Looking between 5.0 and 6.0
for me . Rigged a 5.3 an it wasn't enough then rigged
a 5.7 it was on a dropping trend however. Waited around
about half an hour and it came back. Stayed on the 5.7
though it was almost to much in the gusts.
Weeds are just under the surface spun out three times went
to weed fin.
Was overheating in a 3/2 if standing around first time I have
had to dunk myself to stay cool this year.[/i]
4 others there. |
