Is this what you're looking for:

https://www.sunsetsailboards.com/collections/all-parts-accessories/products/mast-gate-for-hpl-aeron-chinook-etc-boom-heads

If it's a different piece, I might have that part also. Will check tomorrow. Send me an email through my website if you get a chance.

A few years back I had the exact same issue as pictured on a couple of HPL booms I (still) have. That hinge style design isn't really holding up, in one case, the bolt and the head were also bent. Kevin replaced the HPL boom heads w/ MauiSails heads as you suggest, all is well ever since.

I was never really happy with HPL's plastic front end and its performance, but I will say that it never failed on me, at least for the version used on my carbon boom circa 2004.

So, I replaced it with the much better designed Maui Sails front end. Light years improvement in every respect, and it feels totally solid and fixed. Believe me, it was worth it.

On the race booms from the early 2000’s it was pretty common to replace the HPL head with a Streamlined Strap-On head. Not the easiest adjustment, but a solid connection.

With almost all booms being monocoque construction, many different boom heads can be put on any boom if the boom head diameter is the same or larger than the boom tube and the straight section of the boom tube long enough. Diameter of boom tube can be increased with epoxy and fiber glass cloth. Mauisails and Streamlined are priced a lot higher than most of the others. The others have integrated RDM shims, somewhat easier to operate, if not as race-stiff.

Chinook, Aeron, North (now Duotone) all cost in the 50-60 dollar range. I have Chinook current style, Aeron looks the same, I have a new North ifront 2.0 that I have not tried yet but seems pretty stiff and secure. Its a bit more hassle to switch SDM and RDM because rather than having an RDM insert you swap out a different size friction pad that involves some pushing and pulling, not instant change like the others. For the North if I had to use RDM and SDM I would use the SDM friction pad and a traditional RDM shim.

But you need to know the diameter tube that the head is designed for and the length of straight section needed. If there is extra straight section on the boom tube, just put little epoxy bumps on the side to keep it centered. Dealt with this long ago with a Dynafiber boom that I first switched in the old HPL head (crap) and then the better HPL head (broken one above). Had to do epoxy and fiberglass to get things to fit, very easy though.
