No, not drunk at all. Just quite bent and twisted overall, and definitely not trusting in more traditional journalistic news media. He gets much of his direction and messaging from specious and decidedly obtuse sources offering very little credibility, so much of what he says is questionable at best. Yet, he would like to think that he has many followers here.

Russian agent hit with US sanctions related to election interference

Quote:
A Ukrainian businessman and active Russian agent who peddled dirt on Joe Biden and met with President Trumps attorney Rudy Giuliani last year is among four Russia-linked individuals hit with sanctions related to foreign interference in the US election.

Andriy Derkach, a pro-Russian member of Kievs parliament, was sanctioned by the US Treasury Department on Thursday, accused of running a covert influence campaign centered on cultivating false and unsubstantiated narratives about the Democratic nominee and his son Hunter Biden.

The Treasury accused Derkach, described as an active Russian agent for over a decade with close connections to Russian intelligence, of trying to undermine the upcoming November presidential election by pushing edited audio tapes and other unsupported information through the US media and members of government.

The businessman recently told Politico how he had sent Biden-related materials to members of Congress creating alarm among Democrats as several GOP-led committees launched investigations into Hunter Bidens business interests in Ukraine while his father was VP.

Derkach also met with former New York Mayor Giuliani in Kiev in December last year to dig up dirt on Biden. Conservative cable network One America News documented the trip.

On Fox News, Giuliani shared Derkachs claims that Biden was paid lobbying fees by Ukrainian gas company Burisma while he was vice president, and it was Derkach who leaked phone conversations between Biden and then-Ukraine President Petro Poroshenko this May.

Andrii Derkach and other Russian agents employ manipulation and deceit to attempt to influence elections in the United States and elsewhere around the world, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said in a statement Thursday.

The United States will continue to use all the tools at its disposal to counter these Russian disinformation campaigns and uphold the integrity of our election system.

Iran and Russia obtained U.S. voter registration data in effort to influence election, national security officials say

Quote:
Iran and Russia have both obtained information about American voters registrations and are trying to influence the public about the upcoming U.S. presidential election, national security officials said.
Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe said that Iran has been sending spoofed emails designed to intimidate voters, incite unrest and damage President Donald Trump.
Trump is battling for a second term against former Vice President Joe Biden, the Democratic nominee.

so does anyone think russia did not again help trump to get elected and did not again try to stop hillary with facebook attcks. These attacks probably resulted in the value of over a billion dollars would be my estimate. Again the country of UAE oil country again gave trump top party planner at the time and future ME advisor who is indicted for lying to the governement about receiving 1.5 billion dollars of dark money . They said they would help with social media channels too for this election. So was that another 500 million to 2.5 billion.

Here we have an example of how russians trained other dictator ones that showed they have the means even a few months ago to hack into and control the facebook social media.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/ukraine-military-officials-facebook-hackers-russia-belarus/?ftag=CNM-00-10aab7b&linkId=159915536&fbclid=IwAR2S2tu43t_tWOb8e4pTB1Qsvu4yIm0l2PYZQtI6C3Y9nFSUPZzqNcFERFU

Russian-backed hackers broke into Facebook accounts of Ukrainian military officials

Quote:
A group of hackers with ties to the Belarusian government broke into the Facebook accounts of Ukrainian military officials and posted videos calling on the Ukrainian army to surrender. According to Facebook's parent company, Meta, the posts appeared as if they were coming from the legitimate account owners.

The group of hackers, known in the security industry as Ghostwriter, typically targets victims by compromising their email addresses and using them to gain access to social media accounts.

"When it comes to persistent threat actors, we've seen a further spike in activity by Ghostwriter," Ben Nimmo, Meta's global threat intelligence lead for influence operations, said on a call with reporters. He added that since February, "they've attempted to hack into the Facebook accounts of dozens of Ukrainian military personnel."

Meta's head of security policy, Nathaniel Gliecher, said the videos posted on the accounts of Ukrainian military officials were not seen by users and were taken down by the platform before it could be shared with others.

Meta also removed a network of 200 accounts operating from Russia that were falsely filing hundreds — and in some cases thousands — of reports against users, mainly in Ukraine and Russia, for various policy violations. The mass reporting was an attempt to silence critics and Ukrainians, Meta said.

The operation spiked in mid-February, just before Russia invaded Ukraine. The actors used a variety of fake, authentic and duplicate accounts to falsely report users for violations of hate speech and bullying. Meta said in an attempt to evade detection, the threat actors coordinated their mass reporting activity in a cooking-themed Facebook group that had about 50 members when discovered.

"Since Russia's invasion of Ukraine, we've seen attacks on internet freedom and access to intensify information sharply," said Nick Clegg, president of global affairs at Meta. He said those attacks are manifested through Russian state propaganda, media influence operations, espionage campaigns and attempts to close the flow of credible information.

Meta said threat actors with links to Russia and Belarus who are engaging in cyber espionage and covert influence operations have an interest in the Ukrainian telecom industry, defense and energy sectors, tech platforms and journalists.

But Ukrainian officials believe Russia is behind the disinformation efforts, timed to coincide with conventional warfare. "Cyberwar is a component of conventional war, provided by Russia against Ukraine," said top Ukrainian cybersecurity official Victor Zhora during a briefing with reporters on Tuesday.

One group with ties to the Belarusian KGB, which Meta previously took down in November, returned with a new operation a day before Russia's invasion began. Meta said the group "suddenly" began posting in Polish and English about Ukrainian troops surrendering and leaders surrendering without a fight.

On March 14, the group created an event in Warsaw calling for a protest against the Polish government, Meta alleged. The event was on the platform for "a few hours at most" and taken down along with the account behind it, Nimmo said.

New information about threat actors with ties to Russia who are targeting Ukrainian officials and public figures on Facebook is part of the company's new quarterly Adversarial Threat report. It builds on the existing quarterly community standards report and the monthly coordinated inauthentic behavior report.

The disinformation campaign by Russian-aligned actors targeting Ukrainians on social media and online comes at the same time as other cyberattacks targeting Ukrainian government agencies, media groups and telecommunications.

The Security Service of Ukraine announced Thursday it uncovered another text message campaign pushing 5,000 SMS messages to Ukrainian military and law enforcement officers demanding that they defect and surrender to Russian forces.

"The outcome of events is predetermined!" the messages said, according to Ukrainian officials. "Be prudent and refuse to support nationalism and leaders of the country who discredited themselves and already fled the capital!!!"

Between March 23 and March 29, Ukrainian critical infrastructure registered 65 cyberattacks – five times more than the previous week – according to a report by Ukraine's State Service of Special Communication and Information Protection (SSSCIP).

The agency said top targets included state and local authorities, the security and defense sector, financial companies, satellite telecommunications and the energy sector.

"We do not see serious and complicated attacks on critical infrastructure which can be successful so far," said Zhora, deputy chief of Ukraine's SSSCIP. "We register attempts, but I hope we will be able to effectively counteract them and provide security to our IT systems."

But hackers did launch a "sophisticated and massive" attack against the infrastructure of one of Ukraine's largest providers, Ukrtelecom, on March 28, Kirill Goncharuk, the company's chief information officer, told reporters on Tuesday.

The attack against Ukrtelecom was launched from inside Russian-occupied Ukrainian territory, though Goncharuk did not disclose the specific location, citing security reasons.

Goncharuk said hackers used an employee's compromised account to gain entry. The employee is currently safe, but the CIO declined to say whether the individual was physically coerced into handing over access.

Traffic in the network fell to 13% of the regular regime of the network's functioning but, according to the SSSCIP, Ukrtelecom security experts detected the attack within 15 minutes after its launch and restored 85% of service within 24 hours.

During the attack, intruders attempted to disable the company's servers and take control of Ukrtelecom's network by attempting to change the passwords of employees' accounts as well as the passwords to equipment and firewalls, according to Goncharuk.

Investigators say it appears that the attackers did not access customer data. Officials have not yet attributed the attack. The investigation – in coordination with Microsoft and Cisco – is ongoing.

"The majority of [cyber]attacks that come to Ukrainian infrastructure at the moment have Russian origins," Zhora told reporters. "And it doesn't matter whether the FSB or GRU originate it. Different APT groups can sit on the same floor in the same buildings."

The hack follows an attack on U.S. telecommunications firm Viasat on February 24 that targeted terminals in Ukraine but also caused outages in Germany and other European countries at the start of the Russian invasion.

A U.S. official tells CBS News that American intelligence officials believe Russian state-actors were behind the Viasat hack, though the White House has not publicly said so.

U.S. officials believe it was meant to disrupt service in Ukraine but spread beyond the intended targets.

The Biden administration remains concerned that cyberattacks targeting Ukrainian critical infrastructure could "spill over" to the U.S. and its allies, similar to events surrounding the 2017 NotPetya malware attack.

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas told "CBS Evening News" anchor and managing editor Norah O'Donnell on Wednesday that Russian actors "have not attacked our critical infrastructure in retaliation to the sanctions we've imposed."

"We are preparing for an attack," Mayorkas added, noting that U.S. officials are on high alert for potential breaches of critical infrastructure, including U.S. banks, the energy grid and water system. "We are poised to defend ourselves."

Testifying in the Senate this week, U.S. Cyber Command chief Gen. Paul Nakasone cautiously supported the creation of a "social media data threat analysis center" to help combat foreign influence campaigns.

"Based on my experience, watching two different election cycles and the work of our adversaries attempt to garner greater influence, I think such a center would be helpful," he told lawmakers, adding that researchers must evaluate "the full spectrum" of adversaries' capabilities, including tactics, tradecraft and procedures."

so we still do not know who is co-conspirator 1 from the Mueller investigation.

Why is this not being divulged. It is clear the russians loved trump and were working with trump to elect him. As we know as this article says could have been manafort, but trump pardoned him. Trump and Barr would have known who co-conspirator 1 is. Again it is a fact Manafort met with a russian and shared confidential information with him that would be used only for attacking dems. Again this was private confidential information and Manafort was under a confidentiality agreement and trump sues people for divulging information that is confidential, but in this case he pardoned him for lying to federal agents about meeting with russians Again why did he lie if he did nothing illegal.

Again I have said this for a long time fire the lame attorney general Garland for not going after trump russia crimes from the get go. as well as all other trump crimes. Ya he has finally started on one of trumps crimes. Trump had Barr anoint a ultra right wing special prosecuted on hunter and joe Biden and that investigation is going on what 3 years now. And now we learn the Saudi gave trumps daughters husband 2 billion dollars and trumps finance guy in the gov 1 billion. Trumps son in law Kushy boy has never made money in investing and the saudi financial advisors said not to as he has no experience and no team. And we know that trumps ME advisor received 1.5 billion in 2016ish time frame. Oh hunter got 3 million geee. I think this we should have about 500 special prosecutors on trumps people as that is just a starting point and they should last 500 years.

Who is "Co-Conspirator-1" in SDNY conspiring with Russians indictment?

The DoJ release is interesting (emphasis mine):

… a front for this global foreign influence campaign to advance Russia’s foreign policy objectives. Through these operations aimed at influencing the course of international affairs, the defendants worked to weaken U.S. partnerships with European allies, undermine Western sanctions and promote Russia’s illicit actions designed to destroy the sovereignty of Ukraine. The defendants schemed to affect U.S. policy towards Russia through staged events, paid propaganda and the recruitment of at least one American citizen (CC-1) to do their bidding in an unofficial capacity and without notice to the Attorney General, as required by law. In pursuit of these goals, the defendants sought to co-opt U.S. and European politicians and to influence public opinion in their favor, using American and European citizens as their proxies to validate them, bring them access to power, evade sanctions and obscure their true objective to advance Russia’s foreign policy.

Among other things, the defendants contacted members of the U.S. Congress from 2012 into 2017 ….

DHS watchdog: Team Trump politicized Russian interference info

Quote:
A DHS whistleblower said Trump appointees politicized intelligence about Russian election interference. A watchdog report bolstered the claims.

A couple of months before Election Day 2020, Americans learned of some rather serious allegations from a Department of Homeland Security whistleblower. According to a complaint from Brian Murphy, a top DHS intelligence analyst, the agency’s top leaders were, among other things, manipulating reports to conform with the Trump White House’s political agenda.

In fact, that was just the start. Murphy alleged that he was directed to curtail intelligence reports on Russian efforts to interfere in U.S. elections, at least in part because the information made Donald Trump “look bad.” Just as notably, the whistleblower said acting DHS Secretary Chad Wolf directed him to stop producing intelligence assessments on Russia and instead focus on possible Chinese and Iranian election interference.

The allegations prompted the inspector general’s office at the cabinet agency to open an investigation — and 20 months later, we now know that Murphy’s claims had merit. NBC News reported:

A top Trump political appointee delayed a report on Russian election interference in the 2020 election in a way that created the perception that intelligence was politicized, according to a new report by the Department of Homeland Security watchdog. The DHS inspector general report also found that employees of DHS’s Office of Intelligence and Analysis made changes to the analysis of foreign election interference “that appear to be based in part on political considerations, potentially impacting I&A’s compliance with Intelligence Community policy.”

While Wolf was not identified by name, the report from the inspector general’s office was obviously referring to the presidential appointee.

“We found that DHS did not adequately follow its internal processes and comply with applicable [intelligence community] policy standards and requirements when editing and disseminating an I&A intelligence product regarding Russian interference with the 2020 U.S. Presidential election,” the report read.

Relevant employees, the watchdog department added, made "changes" to reports "that appear to be based in part on political considerations."

It added, “The acting secretary participated in the review process multiple times despite lacking any formal role in reviewing the product, resulting in the delay of its dissemination on at least one occasion. The delays and deviation from I&A standard process and requirements put [them] at risk of creating a perception of politicization.”

(It’s worth emphasizing that while Trump appointed Wolf to serve as acting DHS secretary in November 2019, there’s ample reason to believe he served in the post illegally.)

I can appreciate why these revelations might seem stale, but let’s not lose sight of their significance. In 2016, Russia attacked U.S. elections for the express purpose of helping put Trump in power. Four years later, Russia again targeted our system, because Vladimir Putin’s government wanted Trump to remain in power.

It was against this backdrop that the Republican’s appointees in key positions of authority not only downplayed Russian tactics, Trump's political appointees also handled intelligence about Russian interference in ways that, as NBC News’ report put it, “created the perception of politicization.”

A CNN report added, the inspector general’s assessment “provides a damning look at the way DHS’ Office of Intelligence and Analysis dealt with intelligence related to Russia’s efforts to interfere in the US, stating the department had deviated from its standard procedures in modifying assessments related to Moscow’s targeting of the 2020 presidential election.”
