U.S. Marine arrested in firebombing of Planned Parenthood clinic
| Quote: | AU.S. Marine was arrested Wednesday alongside another suspect in connection to the firebombing of a California Planned Parenthood clinic in Costa Mesa last year, according to the Department of Justice.
The two men have been accused of using a Molotov cocktail to commit an act of arson; the DOJ did not to disclose a potential motive for the attack.
The two suspects —Tibet Ergul, 21, and Chance Brannon, 23— were arrested on Wednesday morning without incident. Brannon is an active duty Marine stationed at Camp Pendleton, around 50 miles away from the Orange County clinic.
"My office takes very seriously this brazen attack that targeted a facility that provides critical health care services to thousands of people in Orange County," said U.S. Attorney Martin Estrada. "While it is fortunate that no one was physically harmed and responders were able to prevent the clinic from being destroyed, the defendants' violent actions are entirely unacceptable."
Both men have been named in a "criminal complaint that charges each with using an explosive or fire to damage real property affecting interstate commerce," reads the news release from the DOJ. The defendants were expected to make their initial court appearances in U.S. District Court in Santa Ana on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the DOJ, the attack on March of 2022 on the Planned Parenthood clinic caused a temporary closure, which led to the cancellation of approximately 30 appointments.
"The depraved act of launching an improvised explosive device into a public facility put lives at risk and will not be tolerated," said Donald Alway, the Assistant Director in Charge of the FBI's Los Angeles Field Office.
The two men each face up to 20 years in federal prison if convicted. |

| nothing to do with either of them. What really matters is that anti-semetic messages went up enormously under Trump. He made bigotry acceptable. |

Neo-Nazi commentator Nick Fuentes let loose a hateful diatribe declaring “war” against Jewish people while appearing at an America First Foundation rally on Sunday.
An edited version of Fuentes’ remarks made it on to Twitter, and it included some of the more inflammatory remarks he made:
The avowed white supremacist started with his many grievances with other right-wing figures before launching into his Christian nationalist spiel. He then began quoting lines from the Talmud, the Jewish holy book that is often taken out of context by white supremacists and anti-Semites:
“If a gentile hits a Jew, he must be killed. But when a Jew murders a gentile, there will be no death penalty.” … This is the last part, and this is my favorite part: “Jews may use lies to circumvent the gentiles.” … Do you think it might be a problem that the people that are running your banks, that are making the movies your children watch … Do you think it’s a problem that they believe all Christians must die? It’s a big problem. It’s a huge problem.
Fuentes went on to explain that Christian leaders need to be in higher offices, saying “We live in a Christian world, we need to have Christian leaders.” We went on for a while talking about why he no longer supports Kanye West for president (for disrespecting the cross by putting it “on his wife’s butt”), then invited right-wing influencer Sneako to the stage who told the crowd that Fuentes “is going to be the future President of the United States of America.” Fuentes then gave former President Donald Trump his endorsement for 2024 saying he wanted to see Trump take on the federal bureaucracy and “shut down all immigration.” He even said he’d “die for President Trump.”
And then at the end, things got fiery:
We’re in a holy war, and I will tell you this: Because we’re willing to die in the holy war, we will make them die in the holy war. And they will go down. We have God on our side, and they will go down with their Satanic master. They have no future in America. The enemies of Christ have no future in this world. Thank you. God bless you. Good night.
While inflammatory, it’s par for the course for Fuentes, who has said he’d like a “16-year-old bride” among other racist statements. But he’s well known for being a dinner guest of former President Donald Trump, who hosted Fuentes and Kanye West at Mar-a-Lago in November 2022. Both were condemned by the Republican National Committee for their racist and anti-Semitic statements — but, notably, not by Trump, who hosted the pair after announcing his second run for president. While Trump claimed ignorance of West’s views in an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity, West tweeted that the former president was “impressed” with Fuentes. |

But there's a twist, according to The Daily Beast. It turns out that Marian Hudak, who allegedly screamed at the next-door family to “go back to Mexico,” is an immigrant himself.
"Hudak immigrated to the United States in 2001, the warrant application states," reported Justin Rohrlich. The paperwork doesn't mention what his country of origin is, although "Hudak" is an Eastern European name.
According to the application, Hudak has had “at least 17 instances of law enforcement contact,” which include racist threats and unlawful use of weapons.
"Among other things, prosecutors say Hudak has pulled guns, unprovoked, on members of minority groups; verbally abused and physically assaulted his Mexican neighbors; and attempted to run Black motorists off the road in his Trump-and-Confederate-flag-bedecked pickup truck. In July 2022, Hudak was banned from a Sam’s Club after parking the truck outside the store and spewing racial slurs through a loudspeaker."
Hudak, who has maintained it is his First Amendment right to scream the N-word at Black passersby, has been under monitoring by the state for several months. Prosecutors have detailed how he allegedly threatened his neighbors and bystanders, shouting things like “you f------ Mexican alcoholics,” “go back to your country,” "f------ Mexican," "when I see you again, I am going to run you off the road," and "I’m going to kill you.”
Reports also say police have encountered him intoxicated, and on some occasions “wearing a TAC-vest, armed with several loaded weapons, knives, brass knuckles, and an ASP baton.” His home was found to be full of KKK and Nazi imagery, as well as a huge array of weapons and tactical gear.
At one point he was investigated by the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force after he told acquaintances he was going to Syria “to join his new friends,” a potential reference to ISIS, but he blamed this on drunken bravado.
Hudak is now in federal custody pending trial. He has tried to get released into the custody of his daughter, but the judge overseeing his case has not authorized this. |

"It is not allowed. The rules apply in a courtroom. Only evidence that is rightfully under the law can be presented; not his lies, not his biases, not his silly conspiracies that make those of us who think scratch our heads and wonder how could anybody believe this stuff?"

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis (D), who is leading Georgia’s investigation into former President Trump’s alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election in the state, has received racist threats and warned state employees to “stay alert,” according to messages reviewed by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Willis, who is Black, told employees that she received racist hate mail including emails containing slurs. She said the messages are “pretty typical” and expects their frequency to increase as her office’s investigation winds to a close.
“I took an oath. No one other than the citizens of Fulton County put me in this seat. I have every intention of doing my job,” Willis wrote. “Please make decisions that keep your staff safe.”
The grand jury assigned to the Trump investigation is expected to make a decision on whether to charge Trump by the end of the month. |
