jiingebritsen: What is a Chicken strap? never heard of that .

Lrrry: Slingshot has a short masted foil which is good for you, wait another month or so and they will have windsurf foil too. We will stock it all.

Dave,
A chicken strap on a formula board is a rear center strap used for going downwind at extreme angles.

Approximately what is the highest wind you sailed while foiling?

Carl; thanks for that def'n. I thought I knew every windsurf term but I guess I don''t spend enough time on a Formula board !

High wind windsurfing on a foil?: I was on a 3.7m2 at Rowena when others were windsurfing on 5-5.5m2, so around 20 knots. This is where using a kite foil is better since the wings are are slightly smaller, therefore better high wind control. It was a blast. Can't wait to learn to carve swells.

Lrrrry: Your Explosion 155 would be great. The PowerPlate will fit right in. Or you can get teh PowerPlate in a tuttle box.
If you want the best setup get the LP windsurf foil from us (in plate or tuttle) http://www.windance.com/Kiteboard/Foil-Boards/LP-FRS-Windsurf-Foil-Complete/35250/
we are still waiting for Slingshot to make their cheaper windsurf foil available but it should be around $1,000

Right now kite but they are looking at foil lessons too since Carlos was a windsurfer.
As well Brian of Brians Windsurfing will likely be teaching. However it's pretty self explanatory: lean back to the tail, go up, level off, try and hold it.

Back in the '80s I got a ride on an Original Windsurfer with a foil that mounted in the daggerboard well. It got out of the water but bucked like a bronc--very difficult to keep fore/aft trim. It seems that today's versions may also suffer the fore/aft trim issue.

I propose a design based upon ships such as high-speed ferries using foils. They have foils attached at the bow and stern. They rise out of the water and are very stable. Why not design a board with smaller foils at both the nose and tail....super stable, and probably out of the water at much lower speeds than today's designs. Hey....I've got plenty of old boards...just wish I could fabricate!

Ideas?
