Mac, they will be either bailing out Deutche Bank, or the failure will effect the worlds economy a hundred times more than Lehman. The trillions in derivatives will eventually destroy us. The world is full of Berkeley economists who are destroying the planet. ... And my daughter is a Berkeley economist who understands that this bubble will eventually end badly. Many investment banks are sounding the collapse alarm. |

Anybody who can quote a Scottish friend on economics, while keeping a straight face, is as big a basket case as they are. It is us, England, who subsidize and keep afloat their grandiose welfare system. Why does anybody suppose that they at least had the common sense and grasp of reality to vote against independence?? But those whose only source of information is the left wing media buuble (Guardian, B.B.C. in particular) will always dream on.
But selective reasoning is always an 'Aunt Sally. Pound falls, stock market rises, I.M.F., one of the original end of the world doom forecasters now admits it was wrong, and we will probably experience growth, but whatever! WE, the ordinary people, will and have made our own beds, and will lay in them! OUR decision- our chance and risk! |

I love the response of the right wing. Faced with facts that show that immigrants were net benefits to the UK economy, and that the pound has lost 1/6 of its value since the Brexit vote, the appropriate thing to do is to attack the person who posted the facts--and the Scots. As noted earlier, a failure in critical thinking. Pretend the facts don't exist.
Now mrgybe might well have spent enough time on a couch to have some expertise in psychological disorders, but perhaps he needs to address his own propensity for insult and denial issues before he hangs out a psychiatric shingle. As for the even further right, they are forthright in their position--xenophobia today, xenophobia tomorrow, xenophobia forever.
We've seen this movie before. It is unfortunate that fads come back--very few people look good in bell bottoms, but even they have made a come-back.

Forgive me if I'm brief, and don't make much sense.
Perhaps if you lived in our vastly overcrowded little island with its rapidly and uncontrollably increasing population (unrestricted immigration) you would begin to understand. In a nutshell, all of our services are at breaking point. Our National Health service cannot now cope with the demand, transport (road and rail) is almost at gridlock, housing is in such short supply from extra demand, such as to make pricing prohibitive. We desperately need a few million more houses to be built, but WHERE?? (There will be no countryside left soon.)
In short, we already are one of the most densely populated countries on earth, and the future projections with unlimited immigration are frightening.Economic considerations need now to take a back seat to quality of life for our future.No doubt this will not be acceptable to those who live solely to make money, and who know the cost of everything but the true value of nothing.
A majority of us voted out, a main point being an end to uncontrllable immigration. We are prepared to accept a slight fall in lving standards (IF it really happens -nobody actually knows), and those who sneer at us should mind their own friggin business!
Sorry if that sounds silly, but we are, after all, patriotic, and love our country! |

There is charity and compassion and then there is self destructive stupidity, the left subscribes to the latter. |
