I did not know she was part of Bushs overthrow of the election to stop the re-count too... so it was stop it back then by the supreme idiots and this one was extend it and nullify the voters time.

Quote:
Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas’s wife advocated for the overthrow of the government.

Ginni Thomas maintained text communications with then-White House chief of staff Mark Meadows about the need to overturn the election, sending him conspiracy theory videos and texts like, “Do not concede. It takes time for the army who is gathering for [Trump’s] back.”

Meanwhile, Justice Thomas continues to rule on SCOTUS cases that directly impact the insurrection aftermath, including Donald Trump’s attempt to block the Jan. 6 select committee from getting White House documents. In fact, Thomas was the only Justice to dissent on that case.

This is hardly the first time Clarence Thomas failed to recuse himself when he faced obvious conflicts of interest. In 2000, he joined the majority in Bush v. Gore, handing the presidency to George W. Bush while his wife was actively aiding Bush’s transition team. In 2012, he participated in the first challenge to the Affordable Care Act even though his wife was being paid to lobby against it and to seek its repeal. And in 2017, he ruled to uphold Trump’s cruel Muslim ban while Ginni Thomas received funding from one of the organizations that urged the Court to uphold it.

Ginni Thomas Discusses Struggles After Leaving 'Cult' in Resurfaced Video

Quote:
Arecently resurfaced video shows Virginia "Ginni" Thomas, the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, discussing the struggles she faced after leaving the Lifespring cult to a group of former members in 1986.

Thomas has been slammed recently for reportedly urging former President Donald Trump's chief of staff Mark Meadows to fight against President Joe Biden's victory in the election. Text messages to Meadows leading up to January 6, 2021, show Thomas referencing several conspiracy theories pushed by QAnon, the far-right political movement.

The video was posted by Steven Hassan, an expert and author of several books regarding cults. In the tweet, he writes, "I knew Ginni Thomas. Ginni Thomas was in a cult (the large group awareness training cult, Lifespring)."

The event in which Thomas speaks, Hassan clarified in a separate tweet, took place in 1986 and not 1989 as he initially stated.

In the video, a woman identified as Ginni Thomas says, "When you come away from a cult, you have to find a balance in your life as far as getting involved in fighting the cult or exposing it. And, kind of, the other angle is getting a sense of yourself, and what was it that made you get into that group and what open questions are there that still need to be answered."

What Ginni Thomas’ Texts To Meadow On Overturning The 2020 Election Reveal
"I want to expose Lifespring, I want to keep other people from going through that experience, but I also don't want to go overboard in that regard so that I can reconnect with my own needs in a spiritual way, which I still haven't done," Thomas said.

She added that she still had questions about spirituality that she was still trying to answer, telling the audience, "All those things that got me to Lifespring are still there, and I guess I struggle with not going overboard and fighting a cult, but I know that's important too."

Hassan further tweeted that "Sadly, the people who helped deprogram Ginni were also apparently involved in right-wing causes. As is the case with SO many former members, she was overly susceptible and went from one cult to another (The Cult of Trump)."

The Lifespring training group was founded in 1974 by John Hanley, Sr., and the program, according to an archived summary of the Lifespring's website, said that "Lifespring played a major role in spearheading one of the most successful and important human development movements in history."

The archive went on to say that "Lifespring trainings led to improvements in participants' 'self-confidence, self-esteem, lowered job stress, a heightened sense of control in life, and a more positive and pleasurable range of events and experiences in their lives.'"

However, a report from Business Insider states that many people who participated in any of Lifespring's training were coerced using emotional and psychological "cult-like tactics."

Thomas reportedly joined Lifespring in the early 1980s and was a member there for several years. In a 1987 article from the Washington Post, Thomas said, "I had intellectually and emotionally gotten myself so wrapped up with this group that I was moving away from my family and friends and the people I work with. My best friend came to visit me and I was preaching at her, using that tough attitude they teach you."

Newsweek reached out to Virginia Thomas for additional comment but did not hear back in time for publication.

Were Trump-Picked Justices Lying Under Oath? This Monumental Case Will Reveal That

Quote:
As Republican men across the South lead a crackdown on women’s rights and pass new abortion bans, the Supreme Court is set to review a case that challenges Roe v. Wade. In this special report, MSNBC’s Chief Legal Correspondent Ari Melber turns to the legal history and explains that “the Supreme Court has long ruled these are constitutional rights. In fact, few members of the Court openly say they will just ignore precedent or reverse that… It has become kind of a weird baroque tradition for even the Republican appointees to say under oath all sorts of words about Roe being a type of settled precedent.” (This segment is from MSNBC’s “The Beat with Ari Melber," a news show covering politics, law, and culture airing nightly at 6pm ET on MSNBC bit.ly/thebeatwithari).

note the right-wing ultra- partisan site disabled comment because they do not believe freedom of speech in reality. I believe why is they know how wacked out their base is and their comments could be as sick as their base is.

Obamas issue strong statement on leaked Roe v. Wade opinion

Quote:
Former President Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama issued a strong statement criticizing the draft Supreme Court opinion knocking down the Roe v. Wade decision, saying it would limit U.S. freedoms just like other past actions by the court.

“Today, millions of Americans woke up fearing that their essential freedoms under the Constitution were at risk,” the couple said in the joint statement on Tuesday.

“If the Supreme Court ultimately decides to overturn the landmark case of Roe v. Wade, then it will not only reverse nearly 50 years of precedent — it will relegate the most intensely personal decision someone can make to the whims of politicians and ideologues,” the Obamas added.

A draft opinion was leaked Monday night to Politico knocking down Roe v. Wade, the decision that established a legal right across the country to abortion. Chief Justice John Roberts issued a statement Tuesday that said the draft did not represent the final views of the justices.

Abortion rights supporters, however, are deeply worried the draft is a strong sign the court is moving to knock down Roe v. Wade given the court’s conservative majority.

The Obamas said the Roe decision allowed state legislations to impose restrictions on abortion but argued the draft reportedly authored by Justice Samuel Alito didn’t look to balance different rights but to wipe out the right to have an abortion.

“As the court has previously determined, our freedoms are not unlimited — society has a compelling interest in other circumstances, for example, in protecting children from abuse or people from self-harm — and the framework constructed by Roe and subsequent Court decisions allowed legislatures to impose greater restrictions on abortion later in pregnancy. But this draft decision doesn’t seek to balance these interests,” the statement said.

The couple also called on those who support abortion rights to protest and volunteer on campaigns.

“We’re asking you to join with the activists who’ve been sounding the alarm on this issue for years — and act. Stand with them at a local protest. Volunteer with them on a campaign,” the couple’s statement said.

“Join with them in urging Congress to codify Roe into law. And vote alongside them on or before November 8 and in every other election. Because in the end, if we want judges who will protect all, and not just some, of our rights, then we’ve got to elect officials committed to doing the same,” the statement concluded.

Hol Up! I was under the impression the Right was against judicial activism?

Judicial activism describes how a judge approaches or is perceived to approach exercising judicial review. The term refers to scenarios in which a judge issues a ruling that overlooks legal precedents or past constitutional interpretations in favor of protecting individual rights and serving a broader social or political agenda.

I’m guessing that the opinion writing is taken out of Alito’s hands—but the result remains the same. The idea that rights which were not enumerated in the constitution or bill of rights don’t exist—coming from a “conservative justice and majority” —is absurd.

this justice is using sources from other nations who believed in wacko things to decide what our constitution says.

Justice Alito’s unusual sources start to generate closer scrutiny

Quote:
When writing legal opinions of great importance, it’s not uncommon for Supreme Court justices to reference others’ work and scholarship. Jurists will often cite previous justices, prominent historical figures, and legal history to bolster their conclusions.

There’s nothing wrong with this. On the contrary, these citations are often helpful in shedding light, not just on what the justices believe, but also how they arrived at their decisions.

With this in mind, Justice Samuel Alito’s leaked draft ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization has received careful scrutiny, not just because of the sweeping impact it would have on American health care, law, politics, and civil rights, but also because of the sources the Republican-appointed justice turned while building the foundation for his reasoning.

Sam Alito's decades-long project

Tuesday’s Mini-Report, 5.10.22
For example, Alito made multiple references in his draft to Sir Matthew Hale, a 17th century British jurist whom the conservative justice described as a “great” and “eminent” authority on common law.

And who, exactly, is Sir Matthew Hale? Jill Elaine Hasday, a law professor at the University of Minnesota, explained in a Washington Post op-ed that the influence of Alito’s source “has not been a ‘great’ development if you believe women have equal humanity with men.”

Alito relies on sources such as Hale without acknowledging their entanglement with legalized male supremacy.... Hale was a man who believed women could be witches, assumed women were liars and thought husbands owned their wives’ bodies. It is long past time to leave that misogyny behind.

What’s more, Alito’s draft made six references to Henry de Bracton, a 13th century British jurist with an extensive history of his own. Dana Milbank noted in his new column that much of de Bracton’s work appears quite ridiculous by contemporary standards.

Bracton ... outlines procedures for “viewing a woman to discover whether or not she is pregnant” in which “discreet women” should in certain instances “carefully examine her by feeling her breasts and abdomen and in every way” to make sure she wasn’t faking. If the exam was inconclusive, the woman could be locked in a “castle at her own cost” where the exam would be repeated daily. Once the woman was found to be pregnant, “the time of conception, how, when, and where, and at what time she believes she is to give birth” was to be made “known to our justices at Westminster.”

The 13th century jurist’s work also includes head-shaking ideas related to burning people alive, the greatness of monarchs, slavery, and his certainty that children “born of prohibited intercourse ... are fit for nothing.”

When we talk about conservative justices’ eagerness to turn back the clock, it’s important to appreciate just how far back they’re prepared to go.

Emails add new details to Ginni Thomas’ anti-election efforts
After Donald Trump lost, Ginni Thomas sure was busy. She found time, however, to give some Republican state lawmakers demonstrably ridiculous advice.

Quote:
Donald Trump’s presidency was an enormously busy time for Ginni Thomas. The Daily Beast recently reported, for example, that the right-wing activist would routinely meet with the then-president, handing him lists of people to hire and fire.

The report quoted one former official saying, “These f***ing lists were so insane and unworkable. A lot of them were dripping with paranoia and read like they were written by a disturbed person.”

All the while, Thomas also worked with political organizations that had a stake in decisions before the Supreme Court — where, incidentally, her husband works as one of nine sitting justices.

Of course, as regular readers know, she became even busier in the immediate aftermath of Trump’s defeat. For example, Thomas attended the pre-riot “Stop the Steal” rally on Jan. 6. Separate reports in The New Yorker and The New York Times Magazine added that she also played an organizing role in the pro-Trump gathering just south of the White House.

She also had extensive communications with then-White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, with whom Thomas discussed strategies to overturn the election results. Thomas also reportedly pressured congressional Republicans to do more to overturn the election, including calling on lawmakers to go “out in the streets.” By some accounts, she even reached out to Jared Kushner about legal options surrounding the larger offensive.

This is not a situation in which the spouse of a sitting justice simply expressed political opinions. As The New York Times recently explained, the text messages between Thomas and Meadows “demonstrated that she was an active participant in shaping the legal effort to overturn the election.”

But that’s not all she did. The Washington Post reports today:

....

where is the outrage by the right wing that inside info of the supreme court was being used to overthrow the government. Where is the investigation of this leak to encourage and encourage illegal activities by homegrown terrorists among us.

It is similar to trump granting pardons to his criminals to tell others that they can break laws for him and he will pardon them.

Trump Lawyer Cited ‘Heated Fight’ Among Justices Over Election Suits

crickets from supreme court on this but not on the other leaks as they are questioning all potential. Roberts is a friggen whore of a incompetent justice. Note we do not hear much from that former investigation because it appears to been right wingers leaking.
