Completely wrong. Imagine the furor from conservatives if EPA had publicly embarrassed a Republican governor's callous disregard for public health--and exceeded their authority in so doing. Sometimes ignorance is intentional.

"The mission of EPA is to protect human health and the environment. EPA’s purpose is to ensure that all Americans are protected from significant risks to human health and the environment where they live, learn and work"

.........unless it exceeds our authority, in which case we will sit on our hands for months, squabbling with other equally ineffective government bureaucrats, and watch children ingest toxic water.

In a nation ruled by law, as opposed to one ruled by the Tea Party, it is unethical as well as illegal to take an action that exceeds your authority.

In a closed mind, it is possible to try to shift the blame from a Governor who sought and obtained authority for such irresponsible actions as shifting the supply source for Flint water to those without authority to prevent it. It is what we expect from people who consider JUNK SCIENCE a credible source. People who are neither honest nor credible.

Of course it helps to actually know the relevant law, and the whistleblower protections.........and to be more concerned about poisoning children than your own career. This from the EPA rule book.......

"The purpose of the EPA OIG (Inspector General) Hotline is to receive complaints of fraud, waste, or abuse in EPA programs and operations..........Abuse involves behavior that is deficient or improper when compared with behavior that a prudent person would consider reasonable and necessary business practice given the facts and circumstances. Upon receipt of a specific allegation of fraud, waste, abuse, or mismanagement, the OIG may take any one of the following actions:
- open an OIG investigation or audit;
- refer the matter to EPA management for appropriate review and action; or
- refer the allegation to another Federal agency, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation."

The Nuremberg Defense may satisfy lifelong government bureaucrats. Most rational people expect a great deal more.

It does pay to know the law, and demonstrate some understanding of it rather than grasping at straws to justify ones biases and conflicts of interest.

I've seen it much better during other contests there, but hea, it beats politics.
