Hi there,
I have a 2005 Naish wave 95L that I would like to convert from single fin to Thruster fins.
Back in the 90's I had a PT thruster fin that I loved. It had great respond and, and allowed me to reach the reef upwind without spinning out. I have a similar situation now, but I don't want to spend 2k in a new board. Has anyone try it?
I'll be riding mostly in onshore conditions.
Thanks |

Why not just use a bigger and/or better fin? MUCH simpler, and it will still slash and bash just fine. I'd add "bigger sail", too, but maybe your reef venue dictates small sails. |

Look at my posts on boards I have done. Quad, 2+1, Tri, and trailing Tri fin.
You can change some of the character by doing this, but the overall characteristics are defined by the the boards shape.
It will turn better, and various size fins will offer different performance, twin like , using 3 similar sized fins will give a twin like feel,or large center with small sides, like most 3 finned production boards are.
It will go upwind better, IMO, if not over finned, be slower overall.
Since you are starting with a wave board it will probably plane slower.
You will need boxes, fins, and materials to install, if you do yourself.
For small side fins surf boxes would be fine.
You could be pleased with the result or not, if not it still sails as a single, about 1 lb heavier.
In this case I see diminished return, but others myself included have had pleasant results. _________________ K4 fins
