In need of a late season wind fix? Seeking warm turquoise blue water with a consistent warm (+83*F) and strong wind? Willing to fly a long distance(+2GMT time zone)? Looking for a safe, clean resort with a nice beach? Inexpensive, laid back setting? Consider MoonBeach.

Returned from the 3rd 21 day visit to MoonBeach(MB). Sept-October are the windy months. Sept.'13, average sail size used was 4.7M. This season Sept winds kicked in a bit late. Average sail size used was 5.2M. RRD FireMove + Ezzy Lion 6.5M or Panther 5.somethingM on the eight light days. 4.0-4.5M + RRD FSW 78L on the ten windy days. Two no wind days and one light wind day off. 1st trip was spring '12. Lighter winds. Sailed 18/21 days, but average sail size was 6.0M

Five days of dolphin encounters. Spring and early summer is dolphin "season". Any days windsurfing with the Dolphins during Sept-Oct are bonus days. Bump & jump conditions. Group down winders and up-downwinders open sea big swell windsurfing excursions for a change of pace. Most mornings and late afternoons the wind is mellow. Lighter winds, sandy bottom and shallow water make for nice newbie, beginner conditions. Plus the windsurf package includes rescue service.

Basic but within yards of the Centre accomedations at the Red Sea Resort Co.
Moon Beach facility. Resort and Centre are two separate businesses.
Check out Moon Beach Windsurfing Ltd. website and TripAdvisors for more information. The WindFinder data is for RasSudr. MB is 30-40 minute drive south. Winds are 1.5 to 2x what are reported at Ras Sudr.

Another Windsurf Ctr closes. After almost 20 seasons MB has closed. Taking annual trips for almost 20 years to various centers/resorts provides a relative perspective on the quality of the destinations. MB will always be remembered as one of best. I feel blessed to have experienced the warm wind, water and people of MoonBeach. Thanks to Greg, Aimee and the MB crew for providing great times and fond lasting memories.
